Avalon

Avalon is the primary name of the continent on the West side of Pandora's world map, though smaller clans and tribes may refer to it differently. It is home to 5 separate factions, each vying for primary control of the land. Split from Kastia by The Unending Blue, this continent rarely sees adventurers or travellers from the other continents.

Society

Still in its infancy, the continent of Avalon is split into 5 distinct factions. Each espouses their own values and culture, and believes they solely have the answer to Avalon's problems. Each faction goes about this in their own unique way, with some being more authoritarian with the citizens in their cities, while others more benevolent.

Despite frequent wars of conquest, most citizens are, in some way, detached from the factions that rule them. A citizen living under Vaiychen rule, may find themselves identifying more with the values of Smithston, for example. This phenomena is more common at the borders of each faction's control. Each faction's capital is usually filled with people that are dedicated, or otherwise attached to, the values of the faction.

While many geographers and cartographers draw borders, showing the factions almost like countries, these borders are often crude approximations. Conquest is so frequent in Avalon's history, that some cities controlled by one faction, may appear in another faction's borders.

Factions

• Elnora: A faction originating in the Southeast of Avalon, built on the value of empathy and shared community.
• Smithston: A direct counterpart of Elnora, built on commerce and accruing wealth.
• Vaiychen: Founded by a group of inventors, this faction seeks technological and magical advancement in everything they do.
• Clo'ilha: A faction of devout worshippers and zealots both, believing that worship to any and all Gods is the path to enlightenment.
• Sionawan: More of a group of clans than a dedicated faction, this group was founded by ex-Clo'ilha members that believed that a shared love of the land was more important than a shared love of religion.

History

Very little is known about Avalon's history. At some point in the distant past, the first factions of Elnora and Smithston were founded by those with similar beliefs. Over time, divides within each group led some powerful members within those factions to split off, founding their own cities and factions in time.
