Tower of Combat - round 3

General Summary

Prim, ready to dust off her weapons and leave the fae nonsense at home, decided to take a party to try the Tower of Combat. A call was posted, to meet at The Frozen Horn Inn. Meako and Nightfall eager to try their hand at the tower, joined up. After a small discussion, and waiting for a fourth who never arrived, they took the portal to Xiomara, and embarked on their journey.

Sharhorn, a little late to the party, and unable to use the portal network in The Silver City due to the racial restrictions, debarked for Fioritura on foot, eager to test his hand at the new arena.

Sharhorn arrived at Fioritura first, making his way to the local tavern. He asked the local barkeep some questions about the nature of a non-lethal arena in a city of orcs, but the gnome assured him, it was not an orcish arena, but a non affiliated fight by some wizards south of town. Ordering a strong drink to go, he thanked the barkeep and made his way to the arena.

Prim, Nightfall and Meako arrived in Fioritura, where Meako got his first real reality of what the recent war had cost the fledgling city, seeing a lot less of his orc subjects. Mentioning to Nightfall he would like to do something about it, they discussed some future plans to make changes to help facilitate growth in the city. Not staying around long, they headed to the staging groups for the arena.

Sharhorn discovered the camp for Madmus first, who excited to see him asked if he would like to wait for his friends, and Sharhorn make himself comfortable, finding his rum, and helping himself.

The rest of the party arrived, and after an awkward start with Sharhorn relieving his full bladder in front of the rest of everyone, Madmus explained the rules of the arena, and asked for a name for their team. Settlingly on Lighting Strike, the party, confident they are ready for the day ahead of them, they entered the arena.

As the crowd cheered at the announcer's introduction, Team Lightning Strike found their first opponent, an undead ghost-like creature knowns as a banshee. Proving to be little of an issue for the team, the stadium lit up with runes on the floor as the next creature was summoned, a giant bipetal frog monstrosity, known as a froghemoth. Despite its excellent vision, and resilient body, it too fell in only a matter of seconds.

Once again the combantants took their place, not giving up and ready for the next fight. The summoning circle glowed, and before the team in a flash of light a giant pheonix stood before them. It immediately took to the air, raining fire down on all the combatants below. Not able to get good ground on it, Sharhorn took a gamble and in a display of magical mastery, teleported himself into the air, and hit it with one giant electrifying strike. Falling to the ground, the bird landed with a loud 'thud', and Sharhorn safely landing on the ground.

As the party tended to their wounds, a one time offer was given by and onlooking nobleman - Step out of the arena now, and receive 1000gp each. Not tempted, the party continued on, much to the dismay of the noble. A fiend was next to enter the arena, in a cloud of sulfur. This barbed devil locked eyes with Meako, who unloaded a flurry of arrows into its thick hide. Nightfall, thinking quick, encased the creature in ice, while Prim stood ready, despite its terrifying appearance. But luck was not on her side, as the moment Prim gave into fear, the beast broke out, ready to attack the party again. Prim ran scared, for the rest of the match, as the overwhelming presence of the devil shook her to her core. It turned to Sharhorn, who, with electricity flowing through his sword, slew the creature where it stood.

Despite Prim flying around the arena in a panic, the party continued on, effectively down a member and Prim could not handle the overwhelming emotions. A winterwight appeared as the runes glowed, and began its icy assault on the group. It targeted Nightfall, but as it attacked, the creature noticed its normal lifedraining abilites did not seem to have any effect on the mage. It quickly turned to the rest of the party, but it was not yet in time, as Sharhorn once again claimed another creature's life in the arena.

Madmus offered for everyone to step out, locking in their prize. He warned the next creature was not to be underestimated. Headstrong, the party continued, and as the runes glowed, a colossal worm, covered in plates of armor, reaking of decay was summoned. Nightfall quickly identified the creature as a type of nightcrawler, known as a nightshade. He quicked attempted to subdue it with chains of light binding it in place, but the creature shrugged it off. After a barrage of arrows, Meako garnered the attention of the beast. It turned to him, and unleashed a volley of attacks, and sticking him with its deadly poison. Meako tried to get away, but the creature took one more bite into him, causing him to fall and trigger his armor that kept him alive. Sharhorn attempted a few attacks against the creature, but its natural defenses shrugged off almost all of the damage. Between its ability to shrug off spells, and its hard hide, their hope of taking down this creaure lied on the shoulders of Meako. Meako with one last volley managed to put the creature on the defensive, burrowing underground before attempting to take over the mind of Nightfall. She shrugged it off, ready to face the creature should it come back above ground. Before doing so, it summoned a party of shadows, that beseeched the group. Nightfall and Sharhorn were able to quickly put them down, forcing the creature to come back above ground. While everyone flew into the air, it took flight as well, breathing cones of cold at the party as it slithered after. Finally, beaten, poison, bruised and facing the maw of a terrifying creature, Meako unleash one last onslaught of arrows, finally bringing the creature down.

Deciding they had enough, the party exited the arena, pleased with their fight and ready to leave with their spoils. They met with Madmus, who congradulated them on getting to the highest level recorded. He offered them their winnings, inviting them to come back soon.

The party then went separate ways. Meako and Nightfall back to Xiomara, and Sharhorn and Prim to The Silver City.
