New Horizons: Digging up the past
General Summary
Desiring to finish their efforts in clearing Ruintale Isle, Milo, Roger, Asano and Azim met at the Citadel in Trader's Cusp and teleported themselves to the site of an ancient battle. When they arrived, they were swept up into a haunt, where the scene of that ancient battle played out before them. All but Milo successfully resisted the pull of the horrors before them, so they avoided believing that they were impaled on the charge of the ghostly figures. The experience was cut short by Roger, who pulled off some overpowered magus crap to temporarily disable the haunt. After that, Asano and Azim worked together to put to rest the bones of the dead soldiers, thereby ending the haunt forever.
After this, they headed into the well, which they had previously discovered had a ladder leading underground inside of it. Arriving underground, they discovered that the ladder ended ten feet above a fast-flowing underground river. Luckily for the party, Azim and his cohort were able to carry each of them like babies to solid ground. As they arrived on solid ground, they were attacked by an undead cyclops, which, while horrifying, did not present much of a challenge to them. After that, they discovered that much of the complex they had discovered was flooded, which presented a tricky predicament. Azim decided to scout on ahead, where he was attacked underwater by a group of suped up draugr. Unfortunately, they could not hit him. Also, Azim never bothered to lead them back to the party, meaning he spent most of the fight alone, underwater with these creatures of undeath. Eventually, some party members managed to get in and help, and the draugr were defeated.
As they travelled deeper into the underwater complex, they came across a room which did not have water in it. Unfortunately, it was occupied by a cannon golem, which shot Azim as soon as he walked in. They decided to leave back to Trader's Cusp for the night, and made plans for how to recruit the golem. Spending over 40,000 gp on a scroll of awaken, they returned the next day and managed to awaken the golem. Unfortunately for them, something went wrong with the spell, and the golem was a blithering idiot, almost completely incapable of understanding their intentions. It didn't help that it spoke and ancient version of Chondathan, which only one of them was able to sort of understand. This caused them to teleport out again, in order to buy more scrolls to make communication easier. In the end though, the golem seemed incapable of grasping what they wanted, and they were forced to destroy it.
With the last site of Ruintale Isle cleared, the island is ready to be claimed for the Empire of Tetrodora.
