Fowl Play
General Summary
Grydek the Hungry, the line cook of the Last Stand Tavern , put up a want ad for twelve and a half brown chickens. Meako decided this would be an easy way to earn gold. Over some lemonade at the Flame of the Forest Inn he convinced Covak to join him. They spent some time discussing just exactly what was meant by "half a chicken" before running into Prim and Magnus coming out of the local cookie shop in Xiomara. Meako asked them to come along and the party headed to Fjordhaven to ask some clarifying questions of Grydek the Hungry .
Grydek the Hungry was busy working in the kitchen, chopping off the heads of a barrel of chickens. Covak was voted as the one to go and speak with him. Avoiding running into a server with a tray of food, Covak asked specifically what Grydek meant by "half a chicken." In response, Grydek the Hungry chopped a chicken in half and held it in front of Covak. Confusion cleared up, the party was ready to head out.
They learned of some local farms and headed south, along the coast. They ran into a few bandits that Fjordhaven has a warrant out for. They felled all but one and took the captured individual back to the city guards for the reward.
Finally making it to one of the kingdom farms, they met Missy , who complained of extra chickens after her and her husband took in a traveling "magic man" for a few nights. Turns out the "magic man" was experimenting on the chickens in her coop, and the number of chickens on the farm quadrupled almost overnight. Missy gave her permission for them to take as many chickens as they could assuming they could catch them.
Excited for what seemed to be an easy task, Prim charged a brown chicken, only to have it disappear, and reappear sixty feet away. Meanwhile, Covak decided to see if the white chickens could also teleport. When he approached the chicken, it did not teleport, instead it exploded, covering him in chicken guts.
Prim and Meako utilized their stealth to avoid startling any more chickens so that they could kill them for Covak and Magnus to bag them up. Venturing further from the farm and into the woods to hunt more chickens, a Dire Badger burrowed up out of the ground and attacked Prim. Combat didn't last long before Covak obliterated the poor Dire Badger.
A bag of a dozen and a half dead brown chickens in hand, the party headed back to Fjordhaven to turn them in to Grydek.
