Explore the Verdant Expanse - Hex CC47

General Summary

Meako, the adventourous little goblin he is, put a call to his friends to explore unknown the wilderness north of Xiomara. His friends Covak, Dana, and Adonis answered his call, and they set out to explore lands unknown.
To travel beyond the cold waters of the river north of Xiomara and to the area they wanted to explore, the party encountered Absom with a rather unconventional means of transportation, a river boat that seemed to float above the ground. He regailed for them the tail of his fleeing the Battle of Stags Redoubt, and his embracing of Selune. He agreed to drop them off on his way to drakes harbor, and pick them up on his way back. He was true to his word.
Almost immediately upon landing on the northern shores of clear frost lake, the party was beset by a grizzly bear. They handily dispatched the hostile creature and feasted upon its meat, and collected its pelts.
Travelling through the cold expanse they happend upon a castle that had not seen the living in almost a century. With unsatiable curiosity and enginutiy on their side, the party mangaged to open the gate whos mechanism had long since broken by fixing its gears. Little did they expect the challanges and revelations that awaited them inside.
Beyond the gates of the stone castle was what most of the party saw as a lush tree with a bounty of lush fruit. Some were compelled to consume it, while others saw beyond its illusion. Those fortunate souls saw the rotting fruit and the shrivelled branches that bore them and were wise enough to not eat them. Those that ate the fruit though had terrible visions of horrors and phantasms unspeakble, and suffered pain and damage on a spiritual level. That night, as the party rested, those who ate the fruit had horrible nightmares, visions of death and betryal.
Research determined the tree to be a Corpse fruit tree, created by the death of the Order of Aster, who had build the Castle Hantrax as a bastion in the foreign lands of Pandora more than a hundred years ago.
That morning the party set to research what this castle was. Searching through the court yard they found a corpse with a journal that detailed an account of faithfulness in the face of constant harrasment by enemies. Of exploration and ultimately defeat at the hands of the inhabitants of this frontier land.
As the party was preparing to leave the castle, a contingent of orcs attacked them. With the defenses of the castle on their side though, the party repelled the attack and dispatched their assailants.
With reems of research still be done, the party left the castle to come back another time to learn more.
On their way back to the rendevous point at Clear Frost Lake, the party ran across a gang of lizardfolk hunters. They elected though to resolve the encounter peacefully, and let the party on their way. They soon returned with Absom to Xiomara and went their separate ways.
