Crown of the Kobold King, Part 7
General Summary
...Garth awoke to being poked by the blunt end of a spear, opening his eyes, he found he was tied to a chair and being offered a feast. Merlokrep, the Kobold King, sat before him on a throne made from the chitonous exoskeleton of a slain monstrous centipede. The King demanded he eat, as a last meal before being sacrificed to the glory of the Crown. Garth managed a few lies and convinced his captors that a new altar would have to be made for him. They left him alone, then, ostensibly to go build the new altar, and the bearded gnome quickly began working to loosen his bonds.
The rest of the party found themselves dealing with the remainder of Garth's attackers. Two more slaves joined up and guided them through the Warrens, but even they could sneak past the slurks, bloodscales, and dark talons all lying in wait for the party.
While the party fought their way through the literal (slurk) muck, Garth used the boiling soup in front of him to slip one hand free and quickly escaped the chair. Heading the opposite direction of the king, he soon discovered a chamber filled with kobolds all eating and drinking. Luckily, none of them heard him over their noise and he slipped back into the empty throne room, resolved to remain until an opportune moment...
...that quickly arrived when the rest of the party charged into the chamber with a veritable army of blue kobolds and freed slaves. The chaos that ensued was heard even by Garth, who join in with a color spray and a few slashes of his butcher's knife. Richter directed the blues to fan out while Gwen sent the dogs (Bite and Bark) after the leaders. The party was too effective however, as all of the enemy died before the leaders did, clearing the room just in time for the original slaves and their mining boss to arrive. The kids also rolled in, however, distracting them from behind while Richter hewed into the boss, who was "power attacking" with his pick. A few insiprational words from Nightlock gave the party the courage they needed and the enemy was inevitably dispatched. All that remained was the kobold king.
