Crown of the Kobold King, Part 6
General Summary
Knowing from Edgrin that there was at least one more child who escaped alongside him, the party followed their nose into an ossuary filled with the bodies of dwarven monks. However, sending in the dogs animated the undead who reached through bars and airways to claw them. Remembering the wand of hide from undead they had received from some more experienced adventurers, the party retreived the terrified dogs and send Gwen into the passage. At the end, he was able to convince a cowering Savram Vade to join him, and after using the wand on the boy, returned him to his friends. Leaving the undead behind, the party debated on how to proceed, and eventually decided to take the crevasse found in the forge-spurned chamber.
However, as soon as Richter and his friendly freed kobold dropped into the warrens below, a dire bat swooped in and carried the kobold off, only for a gargoyle to surprise attack them, too. While Gwen and Nightlock headed into the crevasse to assist, Garth took the makeshift elevator down the well into a nearby cavern. The party split, Garth battled strange toadlike creatures that charged at him covering the place in slime, while Richter and friends dispatched the bat, but had trouble getting through the tough hide of the mocking statue. Seeing this, Richter put away his sword and drew forth Glintaxe, goading the villain into his reach. With first blow, the axe found the guts of the gargoyle, as Glintaxe himself seemed to have lent a bit of luck from the afterlife, and Richter took the monster's head next.
Things were not going quite so legendmaking for Garth however, and after narrowly escaping the kobold riders in the refuse room, he called out to his friends and ran into an army of kobold miners who all slung rocks at him, leaving him bleeding, alone, and in the dark...
