Arbour Trade Edict - To Fjordhaven By Sea - Part 2

General Summary

In a flurry of both panic but deft martial prowess, the party dispatched of the flock of carnivorous seagulls threatening both their ship and their crew, leaving them safe for now. Though their voyage was not safe yet. A seemingly unmanned ship began to drift past them. Curiosity struck them, and with the help of a set of grappling hooks, the ghost ship was pulled close so it could be boarded. Above deck, no crew could be spotted, so it wasn't long before the adventurers chose to head below deck to investigate further. At the foot of the stairs, they found two unconscious men, both severely injured. One knocked unconscious the other rendered so by the pain from multiple broken limbs. With a couple of potions, the two men returned to consciousness, quite confused by the new occupants of their ship. While Evette and Weisz remained above deck with the two strangers, Lucky and Zephyr headed below decks, uncovering a gruesome scene. Boxes filled with decaying, severed limbs. Heads missing their eyes and tongues, and trails of blood all along the floor. Heading back to the bunks, and even more troubling scene could be found. The nets were meant as beds for the former crew torn to tatters, blood lining the floors, walls, and even the ceiling. Scratch marks all across the wood paneling of the room. The pair who headed below decks quickly headed back upstairs to question the remaining crew. Finding their answers either nonexistent or not nearly straightforward enough, the crew began toying with the idea of stranding them on the ghost ship and leaving them for dead. Clearer head prevailed though, and the party chose instead to tie them up on their ship and take them to the authorities of the nearest port. Though, it wasn't long before it was clear something was amiss on their ship. A quick scan of detection magic found a magical aura running below deck! And a cursory glance at their crew found one wasn't quite matching the uniform of the other sailors they'd hired. Their accusation turned worrisome when the sailor began to transform into a hairy beast, taking a young member of the crew hostage! His howls heard from below deck, the invisible creature revealed itself and began its rampage upwards to meet with its mate. Lucky caught the creature on its way towards the stairs, convincing it to parley. With quite a bit of convincing, Lucky managed to talk the rest of the crew into settling down so they could figure out what exactly was going on. The party learned the ghost ship was once a trade ship getting food from a settlement north of where they were now and heading south into the South Sea. The voyage was severely delayed though, causing the pair of werewolves to be on board during a full moon. Not able to control their primal urges, the pair tore apart a majority of the crew. Of the two other crew members that remained, one, the captain, began using the entrails of his deceased crewmates to attempt a ritual that would please the goddess of the sea. With the mystery solved the crew wasn't much of a fan of the two non-wolf surviving crew members. Choosing to drop them off on the shore near Half Circle and also take some time to restock there. Though their two werewolf companions had proven both honest and reasonable, so with only minor distrust remaining the party elected to allow them to stay and help man the boat.
