Panacopia IP Ecosystem
Panacopia IP Ecosystem
Intellectual Property (IP) in Panacopia
Panacopia is built on a shared IP model designed to encourage collaboration while maintaining clear rights, attribution, and fair compensation. Creators contribute to an evolving creative world where IP is shared, protected, and monetized through structured agreements.
This document outlines how IP is registered, used, and managed within Panacopia, ensuring a transparent and enforceable system for all contributors.
1. Core IP Principles
✔ Shared IP System – All submitted content becomes Panacopia-registered IP, meaning it can be referenced, expanded upon, or remixed by other contributors within the platform.
✔ Contributor Recognition & Control – Creators retain acknowledgment and influence over their registered IP but do not retain exclusive ownership.
✔ Recognized Contributor (RC) Protections – RCs have additional monetization control over their registered IP.
✔ Canonized Works & World Consistency – Certain works may become official Panacopia content, managed by World Editors to maintain continuity.
✔ Problematic Content Restrictions – IP from problematic works cannot be registered. Additionally, controversial works may not use existing Panacopia IP without explicit approval.
✔ Irrevocable Shared IP Commitment – Any content introduced into Panacopia, including works previously published elsewhere, permanently becomes shared IP within the platform.

2. IP Registration & Contributor Rights
✔ Registration Requires a Completed Work – Only finalized works can be registered as distinct IP under Panacopia.
✔ Automatic Registration of Distinct Elements – Once submitted, unique elements within a work are automatically assigned to the contributor.
✔ Attribution & Notification System – Contributors receive notices when their IP is used in other works. Opting out of notifications means automatic agreement to usage.
✔ Forfeiture on Criminal Misuse – Any contributor convicted of a crime involving Panacopia IP forfeits all IP rights and compensation, with proceeds redirected to an appropriate victim fund.

3. Monetization & Revenue Sharing
✔ Recognized Contributors (RCs) Control Monetization – RCs decide whether their registered IP can be used in monetized works.
✔ Revenue Weighting by Contribution – Compensation is distributed based on IP significance, ensuring fair earnings.
✔ Standardized Monetization Rules – No "custom business models"; all monetization follows Panacopia’s structured revenue-sharing policies.
✔ External Licensing Compliance – Any IP used outside Panacopia must comply with the platform’s revenue-sharing rules.

4. IP Use & Content Restrictions
✔ Registered IP Must Follow Platform Policies – Works containing registered Panacopia IP must adhere to content guidelines.
✔ Restricted Use for Problematic Content – Problematic or highly controversial works cannot use Panacopia-registered IP without explicit permission.
✔ World Editors & Canonization Authority – Disputes regarding IP use in canonized content are handled by World Editors, ensuring consistency.

5. Acknowledgment & Transparency
✔ Mandatory Acknowledgment Pages – Every work includes a pre-access acknowledgment screen detailing:
- Content rating
- IP attribution & usage disclosures
- Monetization & revenue-sharing details (if applicable)
✔ Printed & Digital Transparency – Any printed or external format of a work must display the same acknowledgment information.

6. Inactive & Abandoned IP Management (TBD)
✔ Inactive IP Handling – Policies for abandoned or inactive IP will be developed as Panacopia evolves.
✔ Potential First-Use Rights – If IP is abandoned, original contributors may receive first-use priority before reassignment.
