Nauk-d Counavrausan Tribes

One of the most understood races, behind the muscle bulk and taller stature, half-orcs few their lives and outlook as multiple battles in the war of life. Often misunderstood, the NC saying “Victory is Life” has been perceived to be a sign of aggression and dominance. Rather, due to the centuries of poverty, struggle, and discrimination as well as this culture the motto indicates other values. Others willing to accept half-orcs as workers, fighters, and friends will find them only aggressive when necessary and often honest to a fault. However, picking a fight or attempting to harm those close to a half- orc may be a deadly mistake.

Structure

Since the forced reunion of the tribes, chiefs and commanders have aligned to create a sort of federal government or at least an umbrella organization to ensure the survival of the half-orcs. For this the current positions within the N.C. organization include wovmoHwI''avwI', Dat DevwI', SIQ Vay, naDDI' Dev, and bo'Degh De'.

SIQ Vay, Bear Enforcer

People's who have gained this title are known for their skill in battle whether mental prowess or by might. The people people have responsibility for defensive strategies, speaking to the Dat DevwI', training and organizing soldiers. Often half-orc women who cannot give birth might dedicate the rest of their life to this division, and woman who reach this status are revered.

naDDI' Dev, Deer Guider
This position involves the study, organization, and dispensing resources. The Deer Guiders of groups work together to determine which towns and villages are in need of materials and foods. When the sun is present and especially during it's strongest time three months out of the year they are especially busy. For they must help prepare the people for the three months of darkness when the sun disappears and cold and dark reign.

bo'Degh De', Sparrow Informers
Individuals gaining this title are messengers, heralds, and people who listen to any and all important conversations. They are not necessary educators present to interpret or learn the information, but to spread it to all necessary people's. More gifted bo'Degh De' will be fairly educated and better understand what they hear and what to make of it.

wovmoHwI''avwI', Light Holder
Information provided by the Sparrow Informers is usually brought to the Light Holders who process this information and try to put it to good use. These people are the scholars and learners, trying to better understand the migration of their food, better improve their crops, or find new strategies to escape their arctic tundra.

Dat DevwI', Wolf Leaders
The Dat DevwI' work with all the others to best organize for their tribes and collaboratively work for the sake of survival. No man can gain this position as it is only designated for women, a demographic of people most greatly affected by the sickness. Intelligent, diplomatic, and hard working they have a general understanding of many subjects to be most effective and to provide their best decision making.

Culture

Unfortunately most of the written history for the Half- Orc tribes have been purposely purged or stored away by non- half-orcs. The written records, stories, and so forth of this country are highly priced and unfortunately smuggled around the world. From what is known mostly within the Half-orc tribe, the chief tribes consist of five: the bIQtiQ, Nagh, Jul, Taj, and IoD. When these peoples originally occupied their territory south of today's N.C. the the bIQtiQ occupied the far west on the coast, Nagh in the woods, Jul in the rainforests, Taj of the plains, and IoD in the tundra. Due to the past conflict and the forced relocation north their traditions have been forcefully mixed or lost. Overall a general culture has emerged from this mix-pot and it is how the language of the half-orcs came to be.
At this time the most valued and coveted asset to this country are women, girls, and children as a whole. Additionally healers, doctors, nurses, and researchers of medicine are highly respected for these several groups hold the future of the nation in their hands. The sickness that infests in the native peoples has resulted in their forceful quarantine led by the elves and somewhat supported by the other nations. For this 90% of half-orcs have not been able to leave past the pa' reD, a great wall that divides them from their homelands and trapping them in IoD territory. Lack of contact with the world leaves them to not have much knowledge of current events, save for national leaders, diplomats, and so forth.
A core factor has united these several tribes: survival, but survival has also driven a wedge occasionally too. To be born is a miracle, to reach childhood, become a teenager, and to become a parent is a fight. The sickness has killed so many to the point where even the worst criminals cannot be punished by death and any assault aimed toward a woman results in severe consequences.

Public Agenda

On a day to day basis the tribes hunt, farm, and build. Basic needs are essential and caring after the woman and children is critical. Elders and scholars who might have escaped and returned with an education study many practices such as medicine, birth cycles, and any study that could help boost their population. The typical ceremonies and traditions in a typical day or for milestones and celebrations have been forcefully abandoned for resources cannot be spared for such frivolities. Leaders of the tribes work together in attempts to smuggle their people out to bring them to asylum in another country or to smuggle Outsiders in to study the sickness.

Assets

Prior to the building of the pa' reD the tribes had access to a number of raw materials such as timber and underground it is estimated many precious materials such as diamond, jade, periodot, and emerald. Other than precious minerals, iron ore, rock salt, copper, and nickel were abundant. It seems the N.C. tribes had access to these resources before being relocated to the north and for now no one has officially recognized claim to these lands. For this much conflict has flared between the other greater nations who feel they should have access to it, half- orcs should have access, or keep it so no one has access to it. Rumor has it that criminals or monsters who cannot be killed or controlled as banished into the Wild Lands to deter explorers and re-settlers. If true, it adds another buffer stopping the half-orcs from gaining access to their ancestral land.

History

Outside of NC borders, the historical records are sealed, not taught in schools, and are not advertised. The phrase “History is written by the victors” is one of the truest statements for half-orcs as their culture and peoples were almost wiped out a good number of centuries ago. Comparing the records of half- orcs and say, the elves, will show very opposing accounts to historical events. From what Native half- orcs know, it seems their people originated possibly around the globe, like the humans, as their biology did not seem to show a preference to any one climate or region. However, in their exploration and seeking to challenge themselves, a group called the First Mothers and First Fathers arrived in the most North West continent of the known world. Setting themselves up in the mountains, tundra, and some land south for farming the growing societies thrived.

Incredibly early history from other races, more so with humans and dragonborn have snippets of accounts noting exploring colonies or small bands of merchants moving northward to find tall humanoid beings. For the longest time it was undetermined if half-orcs were half- elves but corrupted, if this race was an offshoot of elves, humans, or a mix. Regardless, half- orc tribes often kept to themselves, not formally united under a single banner for ages past. Deciding to move east to expand trade, half- orc tribes settled closer and closer to the northern dwarf borders and west borders of elf country. Next came the near ruin of the race.

Chief Tanraq were camping with her brothers and a few others when a sound boomed through the woods. Racing toward the source of the sound, the group found a land slide due to heavy rain buried a traveling passenger carriage. Digging as quickly as possible, an elven lady was unearthed, though unfortunately her dwarf companion was killed in the process as well as the others traveling with them. At first terrified, the lady ran away wildly into the woods and tried to walk back to her homeland. Starving and exhausted she collapsed, only to wake up in the camp of original rescuers as they were following her the entire time. With the bodies of the victims burned and their plans changing, the group opened rough communications with the lady. Francesca the elf was a maiden who eventually saw these creatures as not savages and she was escorted back to the nearest half- orc tribe. After several months she was healthy enough to continue her journey back home and her new companions joined her.

In their time together, feelings between Chief Tanraq and Francesca developed with Francesca excited at the prospect of introducing the elven peoples to a new potential of peoples to explore culture and trade. Marching into Knurl Sartos without realizing it, a group of dwarves and an elven leader stopped them, believing lady Francesca was a kidnapped individual. Due to a miscommunication, the He elf addressed one of the half-orc men, believing him to be the leader and insulted for their chief the warrior pushed the elf aside. Not realizing his own strength, the elf was pushed backwards and in trying to correct his balance he fell, striking his head on a rock, dying instantly. The dwarfs attacked, and the half- orcs defended themselves as best as they can without weapons drawn, except, Francesca was “captured” as far as the Chief could tell.

Tracking the dwarves back to the nearest fort, the half- orcs broke in and lay waste to the timbers and stone, without any deaths only much bruising and some broken bone. Francesca back with her friends better explained the situation to her love, explaining she was one of the royalties to Tinu- Nur, Princess Francesca to be precise and that the elves and dwarves mistaken her companions to be kidnappers. Understanding the accidental wrongs, the band continued to move along, risking themselves as they neared the Tinu- Nur border as this area on either side was elf or dwarf controlled, no means of easy escape. By now whole platoons were deployed between the elves and dwarfs to find this band of ruffians and as they neared one of the first elf villages on the border, the group was captured.

Under pain of torture and experimentation, the group was exposed to the public in the capital where they were publicly humiliated and beaten. If not that the males were forced to fight each other for spectacle for the crowd. Princess Francesca pleaded with the authorities and royal family, begging them to stop to no success, locked in her room. From what the half-orcs guess but they cannot confirm it, Princess Francesca was found dead in her room and they believed it to be suicide. Suicide because the day before, considered the Elven Sin amongst the half- orcs, a guard attempted to force the remaining half- orc men to have relations with their Chief. Unable to do so and horrified at the prospect, the half- orcs preferred slaughter than touch their leader in such a way. One He-Orc remained, Nanouk, nephew to Chief Tanraq who became blood raged when he watched lowly criminals assault his kin as the authorities brought out prisoners instead to have their way with Tanraq.

The druid’s rage caused an earthquake and all manner of animals to descend upon the town causing great chaos. With her body bleeding out, her brave nephew managed to bring her to Princess Francesca, though it was too late, finding the Princesses body in a pool of blood. As a final order, Chief Tanraq requested she die near her lover or else she would be a burden to him if he tried to escape with her he would surely be caught. Anguished Nanouk escaped and legend says he rode on the back of a whale to cross the waters to reach his homeland, raising the alarm of these smaller yet powerful creatures. The tribes were united as a front and began to build defensively as reports came thru that an alliance of elves and dwarfs prepared for an offensive.

Thereafter the war between these three groups was a back and forth power front with gains and losses on both sides. Yet after 72 years of fighting, the half-orcs were crippled when a plague swept through the people and the opposing force seemed immune to the sickness. Ready to bring down the final stroke, the humans intervened with diplomacy, realizing that the war was suddenly too unbalanced for a proper victory to comfort. The final peace agreements pushed the official NC borders north to the tundra and the original land of the half- orcs was stripped from their authority with no one race taking claims to it. Rather these lands then became the Disputed Lands of the West.

Demography and Population

Almost all of the population is made of half-orcs and other races barely dot the landscape of C.D. No other races even comes second in terms of numbers, though if some where to guess dwarves and humans would be the most common Outside race, though this is due to sheer geography. A steady population of elves occupy the borders of N.C to maintain the wall the quarantines them from the rest of the world.   The last census estimated the population to be at about 68.6 million, but this was before the sickness spread throughout the population.  Estimates place the population at possibly 20.6 million, a third of the original population.

Foreign Relations

Foreign relations are not strong outside of N.C. politically due to their isolation. However due to advocates, diplomats, and those who have escaped the border of N.C., some relations have emerged.

Knurl Sartos Kingdom
As passed down in basic education and legends, the dwarves never forgot the half-orcs contribution to their kingdom. Most public opinion believes the half-orcs should regain access to their original lands believing the elves war and quarantine were too aggressive. Others speculate their 'greed' is the only reason why this kingdom is interested in politically acknowledging the half-orc's claim, to create and make more companies. While not globally acknowledged, it is speculated entrepreneurs or dwarves with a taste for adventure will travel in small parties to infiltrate and connect with the Tribes possibly backed by unofficial kingdom support.

Okkar Gæti Nation
General opinion of N.C. is divided, as many believe the quarantine of the half- orc is a necessary step to protect the rest of the world. Others wondered if it was a strategic move to open a space for the elves to circle around the Dwarf Kingdom to then attack from the north. If so, why wait so long then seeing as the elves have had ample time to attack and start a war. Then again, elves live for centuries and could be playing the long game, it is not certain.

Olo' Atxkxe Republic
Due to the distance, the Republic cannot say or contribute to the plight of the half-orcs. Publicly most believe the half-orcs have rightful claim to their homeland and a cure is more possible than elven propaganda has been told. Within their own country half-orcs are welcomed should they manage to escape and reach the other side of the world. A handful of organizations from diplomats to aggressors strive to change the half-orcs current fortune ranging from educating the public, writing to leaders for change, or terrorist intentions attacking powers supporting the quarantine.

The Empire of Tinu Núr
The relationship between the elves and half-orcs is broken. Due to the wars and quarantine, relationships with the Empire are generally hostile, though the distance and Wall prevent conflict from erupting. In countries such as the Republic, a half-orc and high elf from the Empire might be at worst icy, though non-Empire elves generally get along with half-orcs. The Undo families or Drow very much welcome the half-orcs they come across and almost always support their cause.

Cunomalc Community,
Hrabstvi Alliance, and Versvesh Gahri,
For the remaining powers, the relationships are neither good nor bad. Rather due to distance or lack of communication relationships are not so well establish and opinion of the half-orcs scatters from one end of the spectrum to the other.

Trade & Transport

Trade is conducted between the Five Great Tribes, often overseen by the Deer Guiders and Wolf Leaders. Between the two leaderships resources are shifted around to where it is needed most to balance out for all. Additionally parties are formed to scout and escape the N.C. for various reasons. One party might try to help families to escape, some to send key Light Holders out into the world to gain knowledge so surely needed, but often it is to send parties to gather the vital resources of food and timber.

Education

No formal education exists federally and responsibilities for education come from within the family. Lessons passed from mother to daughter, father to son, and so forth survival is taught early. As a worst case scenario a half-orc child should know how to fend for itself if it's family unit or tribe is wiped out.
