Personal history
Not much is known of Blackpit's history, but analyzing the war records and accounts of others Blackpit was an intelligent, though aggressive leader. Some might say he used charming words, some say it was muscle, regardless Blackpit developed a wave of supporters. As tensions rose between dwarves and elves Blackpit rallied forces and helped develop militias to protect strongholds as well as innocent villagers. By expressing his belief that the common dwarf needed protection and prosperity helped his gain to power. Over the years he emerged as a battle master counselor next to the current leader at the time, a name purposely forgotten in history due to the shame brought on by his lack of leadership during these critical events.
A major event placing Blackpit into history was the assassination of 3299, the Ashnâkh/ Finnaagar. Not consulting the leader, Blackpit and two others devised an assassination plot including magic and sorcery. One of the supporters used magic to disguise the appearance and Blackpit was placed under an invisibility spell. The elves not believing the dwarves to be of high intelligence did not believe there was a need to sweep the room of magical trickery or traps. To add to the deceptions the dwarves in on the scheme pretended to be confused and dumbed down, further placing the elves into a relaxed state. Once in position Blackpit dropped from the ceiling and killed the elven leader, and immediately chaos broke out. Unprepared the elves did not have a chance and the elven counsel was slain.
Emerging from the chambers the dwarves killed all in their path and hearing the horns of battle, the dwarven forces attacked the elven camps. Returning to dwarven territory the public quickly chose Blackpit to be their leader and the original leader was forced out. Much to the surprise of the public, Blackpit withdrew all forces and mainly used the military to protect the boundaries and civilians. Slowly word spread the Blackpit was mounting and with public effort this secret continued for 5 years. During this time Blackpit pooled funding and resources to train, arm soldiers, increase the size of the military, and develop other weapons. The overall plan was to strike at the elves, stun them as they did during the assassination plot.
Finally the stroke fell and massive attacks began on elven territory with brutal fighting. Debates have sprung that war crimes took place during this time including unnecessary looting and burning of villages containing non-combatants, possibly murdering others so as to not take prisoners. Regardless of the truth, dwarves not on the front lines or near the border were told of the heroics of their brothers and sisters thanks to the genius of Blackpit. Over the next 50 years the war continued and the longer the fighting lasted, the longer Blackpit fed lies to the common people.
The policies withdrew the freedoms of the people gradually and within reason. Stricter curfews to discourage spywork, higher taxes to fund the war efforts, rations, and extended work hours. Some volunteers even worked for no coin, merely to contribute to their fatherland was an honor. After a few decades, Blackpit felt there was a growing unrest and murmurs that the common folk were tired of the long war effort. In order to spur morale, Blackpit ordered spies to go out into the world to open lines of communication with other dwarf families. By bringing them into the fold Blackpit hoped this would reignite general interest into the government and spin a story that dwarf cousins from other lands were lending aid to finish the war.
At first this strategy worked well as dwarves north in what is now known as the wild lands and in the mountains of the Tribes made their way south to join with the developing country. However, Blackpit's government and leadership were challenged by the emergence of Ruby Ironclad, a dwarf of the north who was mortified with the corruption of the governement. The Civil War between Blackpit and Ironclad began in 3354 and would not end until 3371. Unsatisfied commonfolk added to the ranks of Ironclad and the infighting would lead to his demise. Once the dwarves settled down, peace was never brokered between the elves and dwarves. Instead the elves did not attack because they believe the dwarves were mounting another attack, another strike of the hammer. By watching and waiting, it gave the dwarves time to complete the civil war and Ironclad found himself in a leadership position. Blackpit was placed on trial for his war crimes and dictatorship policies. Sentenced into prison for life he completed some of his time there, but three years in Blackpit supporters broke him out of his confinement.
In one more ditch effort to regain control, Blackpit and a tactical forces attacked the Ironclad stronghold. Witnesses account in this legendary battle, each marking the other, Ironclad and Blackpit fought each hammer to axe. Neither yielding to the other, the fighting between them is believed to have lasted 3 or four hours until Blackpit faltered or Ironclad discovered a weak spot. The swing of the axe removed the head of Blackpit and his forces surrendered. Rather than boast his victory, Ironclad returned the bodies of the fallen back to their families and Blackpit was given a proper funeral. Despite this his grave is unmarked and unknown to deter supporters from gathering in one place to celebrate him as a marauder.

Accomplishments & Achievements
Blackpit was responsible for a number of terrible events and transgressions, but he also accomplished some good during his time in history. Under his leadership dwarven families began to organize under one nation and federal infrastructure due to the war effort was born. Updated battle tactics and defenses were developed in his leadership as well as extending and uniting dwarves outside of this territory. Daring, aggressive, and tactical Blackpit knew to surround himself with loyal supporters and others who were experts in particular fields such as magic and technology.
Yet, it cannot be ignored that his leadership concerning domestic policies will forever remain a stain on his record. Peasants and intellectuals who were not useful in contributing to the wars were often ignored in aid and federal policy. Businesses suffered and disappeared during this war time without being able to receive any relief from Blackpit's government. For this it is estimated thousands of unknown innocents starved to death or died of sickness due to lack of resources.

Morality & Philosophy
In the beginning of his leadership Blackpit knew how to speak to the people and meet them on their level. At first he spoke first hand with the common dwarf and their children, saying he knew of their plights and sufferings at the hands of the elven armies. Spurring anger and vengeance he easily won over dwarves to turn them into soldiers to fight the enemy. Strategically stories reported of the terrible fighting from the elf soldiers, though over time reports began to twist unbeknownst to the public. Blackpit painted a picture that depicted elves as hateful beings bent on erasing the dwarves and their children. Fighting them was not for victory, but a matter of life and death. Continued bombardment of propaganda and the slow disappearance of the dwarves intellectual class meant fewer and fewer dwarves questioned his authority. From Blackpit's mouth the elves were not the ones that started this, but the dwarves were certainly going to end it.
