Osigium - "King of the Silver Tides"

Osigium is the King of the Silver Tides, the Lord of the Cerulean City, and the Pearlescent Master. Osigium is the god of the sea and its critical function towards life. He concerns himself in the natural currents of the ocean that guide groups of ocean creatures towards feeding grounds and for their mating cycles. He concerns himself with the rain that provides sustenance for crops and vegetation, and the rivers that flow from upland back down into his domain. Sailors and those who travel by sea offer homage to Osigium in hopes of safe passage and calm waves. Port cities all over Palurin usually have some form of shrine if not a grand temple to Osigium, though the latter is most common in major port cities where trade is prevalent and crucial to the economic stability of a nation and its people.   Osigium however is not some god to be placated by worship, and favors actions over words. He is a noble and just Elemental power, who creates civilization and life as much as he protects them. His home is the Cerulean City in the Elemental Plane of Water, a city that rivals the legendary marid City of Glass in its beauty and opportunity for economic prosperity. Osigium understands the duty and burden of protection more than most gods as a result of his great city, though one could argue his hand in maintaining and protecting it might distract him from his typical areas of concern.   One could argue that this primal deity’s lean towards protection is a result of its manner of creation just as many other gods that emerged from The Ruination. As much as he is a protector of land-living humanoids and other life, he is a protector of the sea which was sullied just as much as the land during that terrible period. Oceanic life forms such a critical part of the ecosystem in many ways, and its desecration could have meant the suffering of the world was far worse than if only the land bore the brunt of the chaos. Gateways to other worlds and dimensions spell ruin for the sea no matter what form it takes, and in the worst cases entire swaths of the deep ocean are said to be corrupted by the stygian waters of the Lower Planes by word of Tritons that have emerged from the depths, unleashing corruption and horrid monsters.
Areas of Concern: The sea, tides, rivers, rain, ports, oaths, protection   Divine Realm: The Cerulean City, Elemental Plane of Water   Alignment: Lawful Good   Typical Follower Alignments: LG, NG, CG, LN, N   Edicts: Protect the persecuted and the innocent, avoid stagnation, sail the seas, swim   Anathema: Pollute clean bodies of water, break a sworn oath, dam a river   Doctrines and Beliefs: Osigium instills in his followers the virtues of duty and perseverance in this face of unyielding odds, as well as the value and purpose in being able to sacrifice one’s well being for the safety of another. Champions of Osigium regularly latch onto individuals they claim as wards, typically individuals who face persecution or lack the means to defend themselves in a dangerous environment. These wards usually carry a badge or pin of sorts of the Champion’s honor, a variation of the normal holy symbol of the King of the Silver Tides, to signify their status as one protected by the life of someone dedicated to Osigium. Rarely do these Champions forsake their vows of protection, unless they believe that their ward has become capable of protecting themselves and/or the circumstances of their danger have vanished or ceased.   Worshippers: Osigium claims many worshippers due to the element he correlates to, as not only can his followers be met in coastal cities, but everywhere there is civilization. Rain, rivers, and lakes are a fraction of his domain, and inland cities and small villages alike depend on these sources of water to live both economically and in the literal sense. Farmers pray for frequent and gentle rainfall, sailors pray for safe travels, and so on and so forth.   The largest non-oceanic group of Osigium’s champions on the eastern side of the world is known as the Silver Hand, whose famed armor and weapons aid the subjugated people of Emrali from the plague of werecreatures and in some situations, devils summoned by the mages of Blackvale. These stalwart knights reside in their citadel of Moonstone Castle on the island of Caltaris.
