Kimyra - "The Rotting Vine"

Kimyra is the goddess of unfettered growth. Known by her monikers “Mother Cancer”, “Mother of Mutation”, “The Rotting Vine” and more, Kimyra is arguably amongst the most vile and perverse of the gods to those of the healthy mind to avoid worship of her. To many Kimyra is a bastardization of the deceased Elder Goddess known as Gaia, who for millenia was the most widely worshiped or respected of the gods by mortals and in some cases many believe Kimyra to be a twisted reflection of her come to nightmarish reality.   Kimyra is the embodiment of all-consuming growth and a representation of a deathless state of existence. In her domain, plagues and monstrosities arise from her womb and consume one another, twisting and mutating, festering and corrupting in a sick parody of the cycle of life and nature. To her followers however the Mother of Mutation is merely a mockery of death. To them, Kimyra is a path to unending life and new pathways to evolve oneself, sometimes in a quite literal sense of the word.
Areas of Concern: Life, disease, insects, plants   Divine Realm: Planet of Plagues   Alignment: Neutral Evil   Typical Follower Alignments: N, LE, NE, CE   Edicts: spread and nurture disease, cultivate your own growth via children or gardening, feast on rotten flesh or fungus   Anathema: bury or burn the dead, destroy areas of natural wilderness   Doctrines and Beliefs: Followers of Kimyra often believe that Kimyra is merely the universe’s answer to the widespread shroud of death that eclipsed every world in the universe during The Ruination. To them, Kimyra is a protector and nurturer of life. To her believers Kimyra is the result of a deadly, ruined world creating a lifeform that is incapable of dying and will only ever grow and fester. Or in simpler terms, the end result of the phrase “survival of the fittest”.   Her worshippers all believe that by spreading her corruption they and all those who fall victim to their actions are becoming part of a greater whole, being welcomed into a greater organism that will outlast the end of time itself. As a result, her followers tend to be less individualistic on average and far more collectivist. These lunatics gather together in areas of rot and decay and offer to Kimyra rancid flesh and decomposing bodies, infecting themselves willingly with the parasites and infections of Kimyra as a reward to spread onto unfortunate populations.   Worshippers: Kimyra often attracts some of the more bizarre and twisted individuals to her worship, including misanthropes with a desire to spread plagues on populations. Others include people that have suffered childhood diseases that have left them disfigured and bitter, those who have suffered infection in war, and other ostracized “freaks” like lepers or mutants. Kimyra offers these people release by taking away the physical torment of their infections or mutations, or by unnaturally prolonging the suffering of their victims via her blessings.   Other naive or twisted individuals provide her worship for their own perceived benefit, that by offering her sacrifice and spreading her gifts to others they will be rewarded with their own blessings via physical mutation or the extension of one’s own life expectancy. The difference between those who fall into her worship via suffering and those who willingly pursue her grace creates a significant rift between those who follow her more than most other gods. Those born with diseases or mutation view themselves as “Hallowed” for being born with Kimyra’s gifts, and those who willingly fall into her worship later in life (often for their own gain) as “Hosts'', little better than the normal cattle that they normally seek to infect unwillingly anyway.   Because of their beliefs and actions, the worshippers of Kimyra have frequent conflicts with Immorticians, the followers of Immortias. Immorticians in truth have little care for the actions of Kimyra and her followers beyond their own personal morals or disgust, but on occasion have taken it upon themselves to stamp out Kimyran corruption to end the unnaturally prolonged and tortured existence of many of their victims so that they may be judged and sent to their appropriate afterlife.
