Ahriman - "Lord of Oblivion"
Ahriman is the Lord of Oblivion, a dark reflection of creation echoed from ancient times. Ahriman is the creator of the divs, vile and fiendish mockeries of the noble genie races for whom he is intrinsically tied to. In the few legends of the Jann, the primordial genies that wield power of all the elements, it is said that the primordial chaos was once their creator. The first mortal soul of Creation's Forge, whether by divine guidance or by accident, touched the chaos and gave rise to the first of the Jann. From this act of creation a shadow in the Void was born, an echo of this act that would loom and wait for its rise. With the emergence of the Elemental Planes of Wood and Metal, that shadow has grown and emerged as Ahriman. Ahriman despises the genies and mortal life alike, and whether or not Ahriman is some sort of primeval darkness from before time, or if he is a construct of a balanced universe reigning in unrestricted creation, the truth remains: he brings ruin and doom to both with extreme prejudice.
Residing in Abaddon, Ahriman finds a lot in common with his neighbor and creator of the daemons, Atropus. However unlike Atropus, Ahriman does not seek to bring the universe to a close or to wipe out all of the Elder Gods' creations. Ahriman desires the suffering and extinguishing of both, to lay low the foundations of mortal and djinn civilizations and create a universe that remembers neither. Due to the necessity of mortal life for the stability of the cosmos however, this makes Ahriman an enemy of creation and just as dangerous as Atropus.
Areas of Concern: oblivion, destruction, nihilism, shadow, ignorance Divine Realm: Kingdom of Dust, Abaddon Alignment: NE Typical Follower Alignments: LE, NE, CE Edicts: foil the proud and the powerful, ruin anything created by mortals Anathema: create arts or crafts, assist in mortal aims except to subvert and corrupt them Doctrines and Beliefs: Ahriman does not have specific doctrines or practices for his followers, as his mortal followers are so few in number. The most pious of these nihilistic lot typically gain power and recognition from their dark master through self-flagellation or destroying things of value to others, ideally in front of the horrified people who value them. Above all else though, the Lord of Oblivion despises followers that do not practice discrection and secrecy in their worship during their day to day lives. Worshippers: Ahriman's mortal followers consist of few sane individuals, typically. Usually these people are outcasts looking for revenge against society; some are maniacs who seek the destruction of all things; and some are just amoral, power-hungry people with no scruples as to where they get their power from. Cabals of Ahriman's followers usually are found where life is only just holding out against destruction—normally desert regions—and, as such, are most common in Lorrthras, Cralor, Fauridem, Kalmaran, and central Missiendor.
