Imp
The Second Lowest rank of devil heiarchy, Imps are mischievous fiends who serve as spies and messengers for the higher ranks. Despite their low standing, they are devious and witty, capable of outwitting most beings with trickery.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Imps can take various forms depending on the environment they reside in and the master they pledge themselves to. They are often short humanoids with slender toned bodies, with two bat-like wings extending from their back. Oftentimes they possess a scorpion-like tail, but are also known to possess the other animal-like features as a replacement, such as crab-like pincers extending from their sides.
Growth Rate & Stages
Imps are the second rank of Devil Hierarchy, with high ranked devils promoting them from Lemurs when they feel the need. Lemurs are also able to promote themselves into imps by pledging themselves to mortals as a familiar, or by cannibalizing other lemurs to amass power. In most situations, Imps can only advance in promotions after this by being granted power by higher ranked devils, but exceptions do occur.
The form of how an imp evolves depends on the method of promotion. When granted a promotion from a higher ranked devil, they have no choice on how they will advance, instead the choice being that of the higher ranked devil. When they amass power themselves, the way they do so dictates the form they take. More aggressive methods such as violence and murder lead to them taking generic forms used as shock troopers, while more cunning tactics such as deceit and wittiness will lead them to taking a more specialized form fitting of their intelligence.
Ecology and Habitats
Unlike most devils who reside primarily within the hells, imps are far reaching across the multiverse, often residing in the mortal realms looking for opportunities to cause mischief and chaos. They tend to keep to warmer climates to match their home, but are capable of residing in colder environments if they choose to. They tend to make their dens within civilized areas, such as small towns or villages, where they can corrupt and influence someone to act on their behalf.
Behaviour
Imps are child-like and impressionable, often quickly taking on the evil traits of their masters and those around them when they are formed. They often see themselves greater than what they actually are, enacting what they view as grand schemes which produce mild annoyances at best. Their childlike understanding on how things work combined with their evil nature leads them to commit mischievous pranks and actions as an impulsive tic.
Over time as they begin to comprehend their nature, they learn how to utilize their previous antics for more nefarious reasons, learning how to gather information in secret and bring misfortune to the rivals of their masters.
