Dealing in Interpretations: Devils

A document often found by those who found themselves in unfavorable dealings with a Devilish being. It explains how contracts written by Devils work, the purpose of them, and various ways one can escape such binding contracts.

Purpose

Dealing in Interpretations serves as an elaborate advertisement for his services, explaining the situation the receiver had found himself in, what the devil’s goal likely is, and ending with an offer to the potential client to help free their soul from damnation. Lucian trusts that the transparency of the report will convince the receiver to contact him to solve their problems.

Document Structure

Publication Status

Dealing in Interpretations normally only finds its way to those who already need its contents. The report is distributed by allies and associates of Lucian, often in areas known for large amounts of Devilish Dealings. From this point, it is in the hands of mortals to do with as they want.   Mortals who receive Dealing in Interpretations often release it into the public archives after they are done with it. Unlike its two matching documents, Dealing in Interpretations is more than often accepted because of the useful information on the dangers of dealing with Devils. Very rarely is it censored other than the instructions on how to contact The Lesser Evil Firm.   Despite this however, the document still somehow finds its way into the hands of mortals who need it, complete with the instructions.

Legal status

While not holding any legal standing, Dealing in Interpretations has been proven to provide accurate descriptions on how Devilish Contracts work. Some adventurers have used the information provided to get a leg up on devils who pestered or blackmailed them. It was also proven that devils who go back on their contracts are harshly punished in some way by a higher being.

Historical Details

Public Reaction

Despite being proven, it has been proven multiple times that not only is it safe to read, but the consultation offered is completely free, mortals tend to be careful in dealing with any document written by a devil. The Lesser Evil Firm actually appreciates the tepid reaction however. Due to the caution mortals have, it prevents pointless summonings that will not lead to any clients or dealings. This grants the Firm more time to handle real cases and pursue reliable clients.
