The first book in the Qu'onan the Warrior Elf Series depicts Qu'onan's first encounter with the Order of the Sixty Nine Scimitars and his immediate attraction to his new mentor, the sixty-ninth member of the group. At the climax of the story, the Sixty-Ninth Scimitar sacrifices herself to save Qu'onan from the primary antagonist (Qu'onan's fellow apprentice, Forsyth Fallsword) resulting in an empty seat within the Order. This vacancy paves the way for the subsequent 68 books in the series, in which Qu'onan endeavors to prove his worthiness to the Order, and each time is inevitably distracted from his journey and tempted off course by an endless line of beautiful females of various species.
