The Laridian Empire

Located in the south-west of Ophanis, imperial lands take up approximately three eighths of all habitable lands on the continent. Composed of a series of former city states, the Empire is now rules by a single Sovereign. Though rarely of a single line. The Sovereign’s successor is chosen for their ability, rarely their family ties. Though, the amount of wanton murder used to climber the ladder is not well known to those outside the ruling class. The current Sovereign, Zaik Kenturian, has been gearing the imperial economy further toward a sole wartime economy. The capital, Bruumthorne, sits on the west coast. The river Amber emptying into the Great Bay of Idantha a few miles to its north and providing easy shipping lanes for both goods and soldiers directly to the imperial heartlands and beyond. The Empire’s northern border with the Ulmaran Republic is locked in a tenuous stalemate. Each nation, sat in their fortified garrisons, simply sends skirmishes to fight over small stretches of land. Neither side willing to send a fully realised force into the field to hold taken territory.
