The Cosmic Void is an endless entropic region that expands beyond the known dimensions of existence. Within this expansive void of chaos, exists pockets of existence where powerful entities have created havens of order and life where sentient and powerful creatures can grow and thrive. Two known havens of existence rest within The Cosmic Void, though most believe more exist. Occasionally, a powerful entity may appear from a distance dimension, but knowledge of their home dimension(s) is minimal. The two known havens are the realms of Palanvaid, and the Cosmic Tree. The deities Zed and The First created Palanvaid within the Cosmic Void. Subsequently, death in Palanvaid created The Ethereal Reflection, as departed souls had nowhere to go yet could not stay bound to the material Palanvaid. When Palanvaid’s sentient life boomed, Druul, the goddess of life and death from the Cosmic Tree, felt a disturbance in The Cosmic Void. Druul made the journey to the disturbance to find a sprouting plane nearby Palanvaid. She connected the realms to allow her heralds and angels to ferry souls to their eternal resting place, connecting Palanvaid to Realm of the Eternal Dead and The Cosmic Tree. Because of the long journey through the Void, the path remained distant and treacherous. Druul named the passage between planes: The Distant Path, which the elves named Palanvaid after. Within The Cosmic Tree, there are two groups of planes, The Primordial Realms and The Mortal Planes. The Primordial Realms span through the branches of the Cosmic Tree, all bound by the Realm of the Eternal Dead. The Mortal Planes make up the trunk of the Cosmic Tree, holding it up into The Cosmic Void. In the boughs of The Cosmic Tree, exists the Primordial Realms are those that exist beyond mortals. The Elemental Planes include The Air Plane, The Earth Plane, The Fire Plane, and The Water Plane. The Divine Realms include The Abyssal Realm, The Celestial Realm, and The Infernal Realm. Each Divine Realm is connected with two Elemental Planes, and all Primordial Planes are bound by the Realm of the Eternal Dead. The Mortal Realms are those that empower the Primordial Planes, where the mortal creatures live. The Ethereal Realm connects The Astral Plane and The Material Plane to the Realm of the Eternal Dead. Raw magic, the essence of all creation, binds the four Mortal Realms together through The Astral Plane. Adjacent to The Astral Plane is The Material Plane, the birthplace of mortal life in the cosmos (along with Palanvaid). The Enchanted Forest is the realm of Natural Magic and Fae. The Enchanted Forest is the roots of The Cosmic Tree, infusing all creation with life’s raw essence.
