The Ancient Ones
At the beginning of the world there were four primordial beings. The Ancient Sun, the Ancient Moon, the Ancient Flow, and the Ancient Terra. There was them, and there was the world. Oxerune was a fledgling thing, basking in the warmth of the beings watching over it. These four Ancients loved the fledgling world. They saw the potential in it and wanted to nurture it. They spent a time simply conversing, the world shimmering with the energy. It is said that this is the time where Oxerune was it's most beautiful. Ribbons of color floated across the sky as the Sun reached out over the world. As Terra shifted and moved, mountains and and valleys took form. The Flow reached out to his friend Terra and together they found winding rivers and crystalline lakes. The Moon wondered at the way the world changed under their touch. He saw the way his silver light made the new formed moutaintops glow, the way the fragile new life had started to form. The deer who moved swiftly in his early light and the wolves who called to him. The birds that welcomed his Sun with their songs and the little things darting among the sun-dappled leaves. The Moon watched how fishes swam through the Flow and whales began to travel him. He admired the little creatures exploring through the Terra, and the magolia traversing her depths. So much life just from letting their energies imbue the world. He was conversing with his Sun about his thoughts when she suggested the most peculiar idea. What if they tried to create life of their own? What might they create?
The Sun in her beautiful boundless boldness charged ahead with her plan. The Ancient Sun danced and sang her warmth. From her rays, she sculpted beautiful figures of gold and honey. With features of the golden sun and the clearest day, they were called the Children of the Sun. Her creation inspired her Moon; The Ancient Moon danced opposite of the Ancient Sun in cool light and ethereal beauty. His soft touch across the land created figures sculpted of silver and moonlight. With features of the pale moon and the darkest night, they were called the Children of the Moon. In their effortless joy they reached to the other and joined a dance. Their shining brilliance overlapped and sang of their joy at the new world and their children. As night fades to dawn fades to day and day fades to dusk fades to night. The Ancient Sun and the Ancient Moon spun breathlessly until they had reached a perfect balance. With earthy tones and fair skin, the Children of Eventide.
The Ancient Terra watched the Ancient Sun and the Ancient Moon dance and create life, and she too wished to create. So she looked deep within herself to the caves of treasure within her. Here she began to sculpt, breathing life and creativity into her creation. She made them stout and hearty, able to withstand extremes like no others. She gave them an innate desire to craft the most beautiful and most powerful things. When she finished her creation it did not live. It did not move and breathe. She lacked the spark that the Ancient Sun and the Ancient Moon had. So she took a drop of magma from her deepest but brightest depths and placed it in the hearts of her children. Thus those who would be known as the Children of Treasure were born and their fiery passion was imbued. The Ancient Sun saw the Ancient Terra's creation and her struggles to imbue it with life, but also her success in the magma burning in their hearts. The Ancient Sun reached out in her rays and invited the Ancient Terra to dance. They danced and intertwined, creating something in between their children. These shared children would be smaller than the Children of the Treasure and the Children of the Sun, Moon, or Eventide. but with an even bigger personality. These playful ones - so full of life and vibrancy, eager to explore and wander - would come to be known as the Children of the World.
The Ancient Flow reached out to Terra and they moved together, the world shaped by their dance. Together they created a new kind of people, who would come to be known as the Children of Instinct. They would be the most varied of the young races. From slender tails and pointed ears to wings and talons. The Children of Instinct would thrive across Oxerune alongside the others. The Children of the Ancients spread across the world under the watchful gaze of their creators. When Durgix, Palarix, and Lothorix came and brought dragons to the world, they were weclomed. And so the world thrived in peace for a time.
Until the time of the Undoing.
