Discovery and Creation

The creation of firearms in Oxdara happened in various different ways, from different people, noteably that Rularia, Venka, and Erendoc discovered the practically and portability of blackpowder powered weapons all independantly before trade and informational exchange was established between the three continents. The last to discover the true power of firearms was Rularia. Whilst cannons aboard ships and as artillery had existed in Rularia from around its late second/early third era, the compaction of these weapons into smaller, hand-held weapons that most importantly could hold their own against bows, crossbows or spellcasting, wouldn't happen until the early fourth era.

Rularia

The Polantian inventor Ronhim Von Dorkenhiem, an eccentric Gnomish gentleman, finally found success in his creation of this miniature cannons, what he would call the Multishot Revolving Round Small Arm - or Revolver - and the Bolt Rechambering Round Long Arm - or Bolt Rifle. Each weapon fired round far smaller than an arrow or crossbow bolt, and whilst in the beginning being rather inaccurate and prone to damaging the weapon itself, once Ronhim moved the rounds material from steel to a softer material, namely Orinium - a lightweight but dense metal found in Polantia -, the rounds became less damaging to the weapon, and over time the accuracy was corrected with the inclusion of grooves carved into the inside of the weapons barrel.
Over the years Ronhim would develop these weapons further, with his research leading him to create the Short Ranged Spray Shot Long Arm - or scattershot - and the Lever Rechambering Longarm - or Leverarm Rifle. His research developed far quicker once he was given access to some Erendocian firearms, seeing how they had combined magic and firearms to create weapons like the Aetherland rifles. His proudest weapon he created was for the princess Brazess, a revolver that instead of firing a round instead channeled magic stored in small crystals inside the weapon's magazine to fire off various magical effects. Whilst Ronhim now enjoys the retirement of his old age, and creating new weapons and inventions for certain people, his research is continued and weapons used by many of the Polantian Navy and Sheriffs.

In Rularia firearms have become fairly commonplace, being part of the standard equipment for the Polantian Navy and Sheriffs.
