The Floof

There is a phenomena high in the mountains of Deorma wherein a glowing orb hovers over one of the mountain peaks. This orb has, in the past, been called a tiny sun, for that is indeed its form. Except that you can actually look straight at it without burning your eyes out, and also you can get close enough to touch it and it's not hot. Also it's rather fuzzy around the edge, like a giant glowing yellow cotton ball. However, it is still generally deleterious to one's health to come in close contact with the Floof, because it contains enough radiation to mutate a slab of granite, or so the average mad scientist claims.
The Floof cannot be seen from below, but only once reaching the peak. It is theorized that it is a kind of dimensional pocket, and that after a certain point the mountain peak is actually outside of this world. No other Floofs have been discovered in the world, although it is theorized that they do exist since claims of similar objects pepper older myths.
