Zwolse Livestock Research

Located near the IJssel river at the very northern tip of the Veluwe, ZLR (Zwolse Livestock Research) is an A-rank corporation focused on researching enhanced livestock. Officially they simply produce more sturdy specimen that are capable of handling occasional exposure to the Toxic Wasteland.
In reality they also perform genetic experiments, producing dangerous critters and paracritters. Successful research is then sold to higher-ranked megacorps. In the shadows there are also rumours about metahuman experimentation. They deliberately do not experiment on maritime lifeforms, as to not compete with Proteus AG.

The Surface

On the surface, the ZLR is a farming complex with several central buildings, and eight different grazing grounds surrounding them. Several variants of livestock are held at the grazing grounds, variants of the same species are kept separate from each other to prevent cross-breeding. Two sets of electrical fences separate the grazing grounds, and large security fences block outsider access to prevent sabotage.
Species being experimented with include cows, pigs, deer, and horses. Examples of experiments include introducing DNA from wild animals from the Veluwe, to balance meat production with sturdiness. With horses trainability also is researched, with the ZLR producing famous racehorses.
An important note here is that only 1 experiment involves milking cows, due to legislation disallowing the consumption of toxicity-exposed milk. This straight ban does not apply to meat production, instead several tests are used to measure whether meat is within safe values.

The Underground

Secret experimentation takes place underground, in a large complex connected to the various grazing grounds. Heat vents are connected to surface manure storage facilities, so that satellite footage cannot be used to find the labs. The additional heat has made the manure storage a fire hazard, something that runners can make use of if they care little about collateral damage.
All animals are kept in cages within secure cleanrooms. Cows, pigs, even chickens are enhanced to become more aggressive, to scare off predators. Paracritters, such as Fenrir Wolves and Barghests, are enhanced to both be more trainable and sturdier, to function as guard animals.
Because of an incident with an infiltrated vlogger, the entire underground facility has been turned into a large Faraday Cage. All security systems run wired, commlinks are banned, and even the central security and research Hosts are only accessible through terminals.
