The Depths

Located next to the northern swamps, these mines are the largest by far of all pre-existing mines discovered in the valley. Unlike the other mines, these mines mostly dig down rather than outwards into the mountain range surrounding the valley, hence their moniker The Depths.
All throughout the tunnels, one can find minecart tracks and reinforcing beams. There also are places that look like sleeping quarters deeper underground. These quarters are secured by ancient runes quite resembling the ones at the capital.
Scouts and miners have reported a feeling of dread that increases as one travels further into the mines. They also state that they have a harder time recovering outside the warded sleeping quarters. Spellcasters report that even their magic abilities feel harder to recover. This seems unrelated to the local wildlife, though some of the more vicious creatures are reported to be stronger deeper down.
Cold Iron veins have been discovered deep below, currently knights are working on establishing a safe route for mining this precious resource. There also are some collapsed tunnels that need further exploring, to see what other resources may be hidden within the depths.
