Beseeching Duck
The Beseeching Duck is an Awakened variation of the Wild Duck, which in recent years has been replacing its mundane variant in great numbers. In part this comes due to the high rate of awakened status in crossbreeds, but also the great effectiveness of the species in making a living.
Specifically, these paracritters have a very special ability: They have what experts call Influence in layfolk terms, the ability to magically plant suggestions in people's minds. This ability is not only used to convince people to feed them, to great effect, but also to chase off predators. The animals even grow a good understanding of what kind of feed is healthy for them, convincing folks to not only give them the equivalent of fastfood, but also healthier variants.
The biggest natural enemy of the Beseeching Duck appears to be Shadowrunners and police. When these individuals realize they are being magically manipulated, they tend to respond with violence. As such, the healthiest populations are those that learned to pick their targets well.
