Lidos

The Masked One

Lidos, the god of illusion, is known for his unpredictable and ever-changing nature. He embodies deception, trickery, and the shifting nature of reality itself. Lidos thrives in uncertainty and chaos, often enjoying the confusion he brings to both mortals and other gods. His motives are difficult to discern, as he rarely holds any one goal for long, preferring to act on whim or for amusement. He is neither inherently cruel nor kind, but rather seeks to blur the lines between truth and falsehood, forcing others to question what is real.   Lidos typically appears to mortals in a multitude of forms, each tailored to the situation at hand. Sometimes he takes on the appearance of a charming, roguish figure—full of wit and charm, yet hard to pin down. Other times, he may present himself as an ordinary person, blending into crowds unnoticed, subtly influencing events from the background. He is also known to appear as creatures of illusion: a flickering fox, a shadowy bird, or even inanimate objects that move when unobserved. His appearances are never consistent, as his very nature defies expectation.   His followers tend to be individuals drawn to trickery, change, and the bending of reality. Rogues, illusionists, and bards are among his most common worshippers, as they value the fluidity and cunning that Lidos represents. However, he also attracts a strange assortment of other followers—those who seek freedom from rigid structures, or who wish to escape from the harsh truths of reality. Clerics devoted to Lidos often emphasize adaptability and creativity, channeling his power in unpredictable ways. His temples are few but often hidden in plain sight, disguised as mundane places or blended seamlessly into the environment.   To his followers, Lidos may appear as an inspiration in the form of fleeting visions or cryptic dreams. His divine presence can manifest in subtle, shifting illusions, like a figure standing in the corner of their eye or a whisper carried by the wind. Rarely does he show himself directly, preferring to guide through indirect means and strange omens. Those who are truly favored by Lidos might experience a personal encounter, but even then, they are left uncertain if they met the god himself or merely a trick of their own mind.
