Airylth

Mistress of the Biting Winds

Airylth, the Dragon Goddess of Biting Winds and Cold, was a deity whose very presence embodied the harshest aspects of winter. She delighted in the suffering that came with the freezing winds, ice storms, and blizzards that swept across the land. Her realm was one of unrelenting cold, and she reveled in the chaos that followed her icy touch. Airylth was unpredictable, often unleashing her fury without warning, but always with a cruel smile. Her joy came from watching life struggle and perish in the relentless grip of her cold domain.   To mortals, Airylth most commonly appeared as a white dragon with glistening scales, sharp as shards of ice, and wings that stirred freezing winds with each beat. In her draconic form, she was both majestic and terrifying, with eyes as cold as the tundra and breath that could freeze armies in their tracks. At times, she would take on the guise of a tall, pale woman draped in flowing, frost-covered robes, her hair like snow and her skin as white as ice. This form allowed her to walk among mortals, spreading fear and discord wherever she went, though her presence was always accompanied by a chilling drop in temperature.   Her followers were often those who thrived in cold, desolate places, such as mountain tribes, frostbitten nomads, and those who sought power through hardship. Barbarians, sorcerers, and warlocks dedicated to Airylth were common, each tapping into the frigid magic of her domain. These followers, known as Frost Heralds, wielded ice and wind as their weapons, drawing upon her power to unleash devastating cold upon their enemies. Many were drawn to Airylth’s promise of strength in adversity, though her gifts often came at great personal cost.   Those enslaved to Airylth were creatures of ice and snow, bound to her will through cruel pacts or magical ensnarement. Frost giants, ice elementals, and even mortal souls caught in her blizzards were forced into her service. These beings were often used as her soldiers and enforcers, patrolling her frozen domain and ensuring her rule remained unchallenged. Mortals who fell into her grasp were subjected to her whims, either frozen in eternal torment or used as pawns in her cold, calculated schemes.   Airylth’s personality was as fierce and volatile as the storms she commanded. She was cruel, driven by a love of chaos and destruction, but always with a calculated edge. She enjoyed watching her enemies crumble beneath the weight of her power, savoring their suffering with a sadistic glee. While she was capable of patience, her whims could change in an instant, bringing a sudden winter’s wrath to those who displeased her. Above all, she valued freedom—her own, and the wild, untamed force of nature she represented—believing that nothing should ever be contained or controlled.
