Festerhide Boar
At the border between the wooded province of Kessig and the mountainous reaches of Stensia, the Somberwald is one of the few truly natural places left in Innistrad. Free from the influences of the human trappers and the woodcutters of the rest of Kessig, all manner of wild creatures run free in the Somberwald. But while Somberwalk is mostly free of humans, this doesn't stop its animal residents from encroaching on the settlements found further inwards. Some animals, in fact, have come to rely on the nearby presence of humans.
The festerhide boar is a rare case of a boar that acts as a scavenger just as much as a predator, feasting on carrion as happily as it does fresh meat. This diet of rotted meat pushes the festerhide to seek out fresh corpses, and the burned remains of humans are no exception, as the boar readily sniffs out and uses its tusks to dig up fresh graves, eating the bodies found within. Even worse, the resulting gore that coats its tusks turns them foul, infecting the wounds they leave.
