Skavenite

Skavenite is not truly a metal but a natural formation of silver ore impregnated with deposits of diamond. The silver acts as the mortar to hold together the diamond deposits much in the same way that cement helps to hold stones or bricks together. This gives this naturally occuring composite a refractive appearance that is said to blind the unprepared if it is witnessed in bright light. Also counts as a silvered weapon when encountering lycanthropes. Though this material is only considered to be uncommon, due to its makeup, it is priced much higher, as it can easily be separated into its base components: silver and diamonds.

Properties

Physical & Chemical Properties

Armour: While wearing medium or heavy armour made with skavenite, any critical hit against you becomes a normal hit.     Weapons: When you hit a creature with a skavenite weapon, the damage overcomes the non-magic resistance to bludgeoning, piercing or slashing damage. Any lycanthrope hit by a skavenite weapon is considered to be weak against said weapon- damage * 1.5

History & Usage

Discovery

The first discovery of skavenite was on the isle of Skaven. Due to the ingenuity of the Dragonborn native to the island, it was quickly adapted to suit their seafaring nature. Actual discoverer unknown.

Everyday use

Primarily used for weapons, armour and jewelry. Occasionally small figurines or statuettes of skavenite are constructed, usually psudeoreligious.

Cultural Significance and Usage

The Dragonborn of the isle of Skaven have used this composite material to fortify their ships for as long as they can remember. Not so much a cultural signifigance, but definitely a traditional one. It is said that the ancient dragons that formed their society showed them where to find it and how to mine it.

Byproducts & Sideproducts

Skavenite can be broken down by a moderately skilled smith into its base components of silver and diamond. This can be equally lucrative, but is reserved for low grade skavenite.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Though it is found throughout Ostradin, the Isle of Skaven holds the richest known veins of Skaveinite.
A hard, yet somewhat brittle metal, skavenite is primarily used for plating and projectiles. Knights of all races and walks of life will strive to own skavenite plated armour for themselves and barding for their mounts. The projectiles of this metal are quite costly, due to the makeup of the composite, but stand the chance to render the most invulnerable to the level of a hairless shrew.
