History

Origin   Millenia ago, before Osiria was the stronghold it is today, a collective of Sentient-Kind, followers of the King and his associated saint-gods through and through, set off to create their own nation. This nation would not be bound to any Earthly ties, instead, it would be bound to the ideals of equality and morality. It was then the core group of Engineers set out to create the floating city known as Astaria.   This city would take to this skies after almost 100 years of design and testing, bringing with it a sampling of every race, creed, religion, and desire. Powered by engines made of pure, arcane magics, the first king (who, we should add refused to be called King.. Instead, simply by his role: Captain) was a Celestial Elf known as Captain Seamus Locke.   For centuries, the ship-turned-nation in the sky would travel the continent proudly, docking at various ports known as Ferries long the way to pick up supplies, citizens, and to embark in trade missions.   The Crash   About 250 years ago, the Nation stopped its tour. Citizens who joined never came back, and those who wished to join could not. It is as if it vanished. The true story is much sadder. The Second Captain, the successor to Captain Locke, a Desert Elf known as Second Captain Abir Al'Kazaar lost control of the ship in what is presumed to be a storm causing it to crash near Basharia.   Around the same time as the crash, a scouting party from the Few of the Gilded Hall were on their way to Basharia to attempt to hunt down a small rift in the Veil (the same rift we see today, interestingly.).   The Few discovered the city in its lost state, badly broken and the citizens scared, unaware and in pain. The Few set off to heal the people and their Nation-downgraded-to-City by repairing buildings and discovering SC Abir Al'Kazaar was nowhere to be found.   Despite the wealth of knowledge and coin of the Few, the engines proved to be too old of magic for even their best mages, forcing the Few to engineer new engines. These are the same ones on the ship today.   Modern Astaria   Since the ship's recovery, it is now the vessel of the Few of the Gilded Hall. Leadership of the city is funneled through the Church of Aurem and stops are made to earth only under the cover of night, weather, or when there is guaranteed to be an absence of life.   This was done for the people of Astaria, keeping them safe from the viles of mankind below, protecting the secret interests of the Church of Aurem, and ensuring the City continues to live another day.

Demography and Population

  • The floating city of Astaria is organized into four organized factions, each living in happy harmony.

Aristocracy

  • The wealthiest of the city's members.
  • The aristocracy are descendants of the original inhabitants of the City, temporary or permanent residents of financial benefactors, the high priest class of Aurem, or the leaders of the Ferries and their delegates
  • Aristocracy can travel amongst any of the three regions.

Merchants

  • The merchant class is not just merchants, but many shops are here in this district.
  • The merchants are shop owners, titans of industry, and anyone who is working towards becoming one.
  • There is generally a low barrier fo entry to get into the merchant class. An idea and a plan are all that's needed.
  • Merchants can travel to the Workers district freely, and to Aristocracy with an invitation or on official work business (such as they own a store there)

Workers

  • The working class is the most populated class, and its members are not at all unhappy. Unlike typical overworked lower class members, they find engagement in their work because the conditions are good and happy.
  • The working class spends their evenings partying, having fun, and enjoying life. This is because the directive of the government is to create a great life for all.
  • Anyone visiting the city is only allowed here. This is not bad, chiefly because fun resorts, bars, and nightlife are all here.
  • The Workers class is not able to leave the district without approval from a host in the neighboring district, however they are not closely escorted.

Visitors

  • On the rare occasion visitors are allowed in the city, they are only allowed in the Workers' District.
  • Visitors have a timeline, only allowed for 14 days (but occasionally allowed for longer) and once their visitor pass expires, they are forced to leave.
  • Visitor passes are magically imposed on the visitor's hand and gradually transition from GREEN to RED. Green is OK, red means it's expired.
  • All visitors must get authority to leave the Workers district and require an escort.

Trade & Transport

Trade is highly regulated, and raw materials are imported through strategic stealth missions to land at the remaining Ferries.
