Cannibals again found their way to a cannibal keep. We removed them again... and found a researcher!
Zelda Hubbard, one of our research assistants, was sent to the Hidden Keep of the Death Arrow to investigate its history of cannibalism. It has been a week since her last communication, and we would like someone to check and make sure she is merely consumed by the spirit of research... and not actually consumed. The keep lies in the curve of the river above Gergsford, and the provided map should be of some help in locating it. I will pay 300 gold pieces for news of her health, with an extra 300 gold pieces of hazard pay if she must be rescued from enemy hands. - Dean Tarek Simar of the Ipsfort Manor School for Arcane Innovation Reward: 300 Gold Pieces for information, an extra 300 gold pieces for hazard pay Participated: Angela, Beans, West Report 0022 Filed at Briggsfall Office After checking in with the arcane school and notifying the crusaders of Pelor that we might need some sanctification after our mission, we secured research notes which would lead us to the Death Arrow Keep. Even though I already absolutely totally knew where it was. Definitely. We hired a ferry south to riverbend up from Gergsford, and found the entrance. Much to our surprise, the place was packed with cannibals who immediately tried to kill us! After first attempting to secure any means by which to break them of their enchantment, we concluded for our own safety that violence was the answer. Beans especially liked this answer. We found our researcher-quarry in a cell in another room, thankfully alive, but secured with locks for which we had no keys. We proceeded to search through the rest of the Keep as quietly as possible. But then we triggered an ineffectual trap which was duly and safely negated by Beans and Angela, but in doing so they tripped an alarm which summoned more of these corrupted souls. After some more necessary carnage, we searched through the rest of the complex and found one soul corrupted but helpless in a stockade - we left him for the righteous purifications of the Pelorites - and the source of their foul corruption, a statue which we also figured the cleanup crew could handle. We also found... you know what, nevermind that. Anyway, after a lot of searching - an embarrassing amount, some might say - we found the keys we needed and sprang the researcher, who for some gods-forsaken reason insisted she wishes to continue said research, though now with a living case-study.
