Lineages in Oscana
Every campaign setting has different guidelines on what lineages are allowed and what complications each lineage might have. This is how Oscana handles lineages. [The only lineages that you will always be allowed to play are the Secen Common Lineages. Please ask your DM at the beginning of your campaign if other subsets of lineages are available to choose.]
The Seven Common Lineages
The seven common lineages are exactly as described: common. These are the primary inhabitants of the major civilizations in Oscana. No common lineages experience any biases or prejudice in the modren day. These lineages are well integrated and communities dedicated to any of these specific lineages are very rare.Dwarf
- This small bearded lineage are known for being sturdy and excellent craftspeople.
- The record of the first dwarves came from the early titanic age.
Elf
- This slender lineage are known for having an innate affinity to magic and living tiwce as long as any other lineage.
- The record of the first elves come from the time of the Divinity War, making them one of the youngest lineage in Oscana's history.
- Elves are rumored ot have been created by the goddess Aliph to be used as magical research assistants.
Firbolg
- This Half-Giant lineage are known for being wardens of the spirits and the wild places of the world.
- There are no written records that record a history before the firbolgs.
Goliath
- This Half-Giant lineage are known for their strength and combat affinity.
- There are no written records that recrod a history before the goliaths.
Halfling
- This small nimble lineage are known for being lucky and loving to travel.
- The record of the first halflings come from the early titanic age.
Human
- This average lineage is known for being very adaptable and being susceptible to planar influence.
- The record of the first humans come from the titanic age.
Orc
- This strong bodied lineage is known for their blood that channels ambient aether into energy.
- The record of the first orcs come from the time of the Divinity, making them one of the youngest lineages in Oscana's history.
Plane-Touched Lineages
These lineages were once human, or came from humans at one point. The energy of the outer planes were absorbed by the bodies of humanity and became the Plane-Touched lineages. These lineages are much rarer than the common lineages, but most places in the world will treat them fairly. If prejiduce is found, it is more likely to be rooted in pity than hatred.Genasi
- This humanoid lineage have their bodies altered by the elemental chaos of the plane of Discord.
- Genasi typically manifest one of the four major elemnts within their forms.
Hexblood
- This humanoid lineage have their bodies altered by the mischeivous energy of the plane of Falseer.
- Hexblood are most commonly seen as the result of a Hag meddling in the affairs of humanity.
Reborn
- This humanoid lineage are made of a human corpse being infused with the energy of the plane of Molder.
- While reborn manifest in pre-existing bodies, Reborn are rarely if ever connected to the life of the body they have found themselves in.
Shifter
- This humanoid lineage is infused with the untamed energy of the planes of Blyss.
- Shifters typically can manifest a hybrid human-animal form that is unique to the shifter's personal lineage.
Tiefling
- This humanoid lineage is formed due to the lingering influence of the plane of Juris.
- Tieflings are typically formed by humans meddling with Demons and Devils.
The Rare Lineages
The rare lineages are as their namesake decrees, exceptionally rare. These lineages are not connected in any concrete way except how often the common lineages see them.Aasimar
- Aasimar are children of the creatures of Aether.
- They are directly cconnected to divinity and have nascent control over aether.
Dragonborn
- Dragonborn are weird and rare. Much like the dragons of their namesake, no one knows much about them.
- People like to just nod their head so they don't get fire breathed.
Goblin
- Whether these small mischievous creatures are considered a monster or a lineage is dependent on the culture.
- They are often found in the service of hobgoblins.
Hobgoblin
- The Hobgoblin lineage was once the most common lineage in Oscana, they formed the first empire, but as the first empire fell, so too did their lineage.
- Hobgoblins are natural leaders and are very loyal.
Kobold
- Whether these small mischievous creatures are considered a monster or a lineage is dependent on the culture.
- They are often found in the service of dragonborn.
Beastial Lineages
Beastila lineages in Oscana are overwhelmingly monstrous. These lineages derive their history through worship and rituals connecting themselves to the Beasts of Consumption. While some beastial individuals are able to overcome their cultural legacy, very few people would be willing to give a beastial lineage the benefit of the doubt. [BE WARNED: These lineages are the most likely to be the target of racism. Please speak to your DM to discuss what playing a beastial lineage would look like.]Aarokocra

- These creatures originally bound their blood to the Beast of Consumption known as Panchaak "The Soaring Shadow"
Gnoll
- These beastial creatures are half man and half hyena.
- These creatures originally bound their blood to the Beast of Consumption known as Yeghar "The Cackling Hunger"
Minotaur
- These beastial creatures are half man and half bull.
- These creatures originally bound their blood to the Beast of Consumption known as Raustriva " The Rent Mountain"
Tabaxi
- These beastial creatures are half man and half feline.
- These creatutes originally bound their blood to the Beast of Consumption known as Preskyt "The Prowling Whisper"
Triton
- These beastial creatures are half man and half fish.
- These creatures originally bound their blood to the Beast of Consumption known as Phallon "The Ocean's Sieve"
Yuan Ti
- These beastial creatures are half man and half snake.
- These creatures originally bound their blood to the Beast of Consumption known as Dendar "The Night Serpent"
Planar Lineages
These lineages are creatures who come from one of the 6 outer planes and not Oscana. If you were to choose one of these lineages, you will need to talk to your DM about why you have made your way to Oscana for this adventure.Dhampir
- These creatures come from the plane of Molder.
- These vampiric creatures leech their sustenance from existing lifeforms.
Fae
- These creatures come from the plane of Falseer.
- These small winged creatures carry with them their strict but baffling moral codes.
Gith
- These creatures come from the plane of Verity.
- These martial creatures track down their ancient foe throughout the planes to rid them from existence.
Gnomes
- These creatrures come from the plane of Falseer.
- These small creatures have developed a mental acuity to deal with the law abiding fae and their strict magic (and a healthy love of iron).
Shadar
- These creatures come from the plane of Molder.
- This lineage is half alive and half dead, their form shifting often between corporeal and incorporeal.
Warforged
- These creatures come from the plane of Verity.
- This lineage is an arcane construct, designed to protect and maintain the vast archives of verity for an unknown purpose.
