Welcome to the Campaign
Welcome, adventurers, to the world of Ortalon in 250 AD! Our journey begins in the vibrant and bustling Spire City, the capital of Aurodan, where the air is thick with the anticipation of a monumental event. Here, you find yourselves either just
in time to witness the arrival of or already aboard a massive shining marvel of modern innovation: Thronaiheim's first-ever luxury aetherark, the Gilded Odyssey.
The Current State of the World
The world of Ortalon is under increasing stress as the effects of the DoD only continue to escalate, and the ideological divide between the progressive Thronaiheim and the traditional Serapheild grows ever larger. Amidst this tension, the powerful nation of Aurodan finds itself courted by both sides due to its formidable military might. Almost fifty years ago, before the current level of tensions, the King of Aurodan married a noblewoman from Serapheild, now the queen. Despite this connection, the royal family has maintained a stance of neutrality in the brewing conflict. However, maintaining this neutral position is becoming increasingly tricky as external pressures bloom. The Political Landscape
Thronaiheim, keen to win Aurodan's favour, has sent their luxurious aetherark, the Gilded Odyssey, to Spire City, an apparent attempt to impress Aurodan with their technological advancements. The King of Aurodan, perhaps genuinely interested or simply not wanting to appear biased, has accepted this gesture. The aetherark is set to transport the Crown Prince of Aurodan to New Ulset, the capital of Thronaiheim, where he will be a guest of honour for a week. This visit is designed to showcase the incredible advancements of Thronaiheim in hopes of swaying Aurodan's allegiance.Your Role in the Story
As adventurers, you are part of this grand event. Whether you are waiting to board the Guided Odyssey or are a part of its crew just arriving, your reasons for being here are your own. You might be a curious scholar eager to witness Thronaiheim's innovations firsthand, a loyal subject of Aurodan ensuring the Crown Prince's safety, a merchant looking for opportunities in this new age of technology, or perhaps someone with their own secret mission. Whatever your background, you find yourself at the heart of this pivotal moment. Your characters should have a reason for being involved in this journey. Consider what brought you to this point and why you would be interested in or even allowed to board the aetherark. Are you seeking adventure, knowledge, power, or something else entirely? You may be a character already on the aetherark for various reasons, such as an engineer working on the ship, a diplomat representing Thronaiheim, a guard ensuring security, or a crew member. Because of the nature of the flight, the roster of those allowed on board is strict and monitored, so each character will need to have a valid reason to be there or a reasonable plan and motive to sneak aboard. The Adventure Awaits
Prepare yourselves for a campaign filled with political intrigue, technological marvels, and the ever-present tension between tradition and progress.
