The Jikari are a high tech civilisation who have packed what is left of their race onto their migrant fleet to run from the Zzenddi threat that destroyed their civilisation.Physiology
History
Arrival
As the 2nd Zzenddi War began, House Solarin's Large Array program detected a small fleet on course for the quadrant. The fleet, which identified themselves as the Jikari, was all that remained of their race, with ten million individuals packed in a handful of ships. Pursued by a large Zzenddi fleet, they sought to make their way through the quadrant to find safety. After they arrived in Mor-Du space, the Republic offered them a temporary place to stay on St Lawrence. In exchange, the Jikari shared all intelligence they had on the Zzenddi and their handful of warships took part in the final naval battles of the war.Settlement
In 2580, the Largo administration offers the uninhabited aquatic world of Qurran to the Jikari to settle. The Jikari being reticent to officially join the Republic or become a protectorate meant that this decision would count as a foreign treaty, which would have to be ratified by the Senate. The treaty was defeated and the offer officially rescinded, but the Jikari announced they would not leave the world and began to effectively squat there. The subsequent Carrero attempted to make the Jikari leave the world, but they refused outright. in 2600, the Schilling administration negotiated a new deal with the Jikari that the Senate would be willing to accept. The new terms deemed Qurran a protectorate of the Republic, which would offer the Jikari protection in exchange for low taxes and their fleet becoming part of the Reserve Fleets.Culture
