Curse of the Pariahs
The curse of the Pariahs is a so far untreatable bane. It only affects the Loxodons of the Pachyderm Pariahs, although it's origins are unknown. However, it is known that the curse wasn't always present within the Loxodons, there are records of their people being proud and effective hunters, but that at some point in the last 80 years they became diseased.
Transmission & Vectors
It can be transfered via transmission of blood, entering the victims bloodstream or ingested, which the Pachyderm Pariahs tend to carry vials of to infect those unfortunate enough to encounter them.
Symptoms
Cracking of the skin, the decay of flesh, blood seeping out of wounds, a strange green/purple growth that seems to indicate the spread and severity of the infected.
Treatment
bandages can help keep the skin together, and prevent it from progressing too fast, however there is not yet known a way to cure it.
Prognosis
The curse and it's initial illness has 4 stages:
Initially it starts with a cough, a rash and some minor growth of what appears to be green/purple fibers coming out of pores and hair folicles.
Then the conditions worsens over the course of 2-4 weeks, with cracked skin, general fatigue, and the fibers growing even further. Although the cough seems to be just an initial symptom that begins to vanish after 2 weeks, but this is a precursor that it's about to get worse.
After another month or two the victim begins to lose some of their strength (-2 STR) and feel even more ill (-1 CON), with the fibers forming a sort of covering on sections of the body. The cracking gets worse, and begins to cause bleeding on deeper cracks.
After a further 3-6 months the condition gets easier to manage, as pain receptors are mostly fried, and the prior stages symptoms increase, but otherwise it stays the same.
Finally the remaining lifespan can last anywhere up to 25-30 years, but death can come at any point. Those who die from the curse are unable to come back via the spirit tree.
