Halenthan

The Halenthan Elves, one of the two great Elven peoples of the pre-Imperial age, hail from the fallen Kingdom of Halentha. Revered for their maritime prowess, storm magic, and technological sophistication, the Halenthans were once a dominant military and cultural power in the North.   The Halenthan people of 202 IE live on a knife’s edge — proud but endangered, powerful but hunted. Whether as exiles seeking peace or conspirators planning return, they remain one of the most enigmatic and volatile ethnic groups in Orienta. Their magic has faded, their palaces have fallen — but their identity endures.   “Even in exile, the wind still bends to our names.”

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

Halenthan Elves remain steeped in the traditions of their fallen kingdom. Despite generations in exile, they retain their language, ritual dueling customs, and complex kinship hierarchies. Most Halenthans are raised to value poise, rhetorical precision, and the mastery of wind and storm magic — a hallmark of their people. Clothing favors layered robes with maritime flourishes, silver embroidery, and stylized wave motifs.   A common unifying trait is the Halenthan temperament: cool, calculating, and formal. Social graces are prized, but bitterness often lies beneath. Among outsiders, Halenthans are viewed as aloof and untrusting.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Despite their displacement, Halenthan Elves preserve a distinct cultural fabric through their customs. Storm-speaking is one such tradition, a ritual where individuals address the sky during rites of passage or mourning, believing that the winds carry their words to the spirits of their ancestors. Names hold deep spiritual weight, with children often named after the weather at their birth and lineage recited in formal gatherings — falsifying such ancestry is considered a grave insult. Aev’Telmar, or ritual dueling, remains a formal means of resolving disputes, practiced with magic in accordance with strict customs and seen as an affirmation of dignity rather than violence. Symbolic offerings to the sea are made before important journeys or decisions, and twilight hours are marked by a period of silence in Halenthan enclaves — a time of reflection and remembrance. Many carry ancestral tokens, such as engraved pendants or fragments from the ruins of Skyreach, as both mementos and wards. These customs act as a cultural anchor, preserving Halenthan identity in a world that no longer welcomes it.

Ideals

Relationship Ideals

Romantic bonds among Halenthan Elves are shaped less by sentiment and more by legacy, subtlety, and shared history. Relationships are often formalized through vows of mutual guardianship or lineage pacts, rather than through marriage as practiced in human realms. Love, when expressed, is veiled behind poetry, ritual exchanges, or long silences filled with layered meaning. Passion is never flaunted; to be seen as overwhelmed by emotion is to risk one’s dignity. Instead, deep affection is communicated through consistency, shared acts of memory, or symbolic tokens tied to ancestral or magical significance.
