Glima

Glima is a form of grappling practiced by The Nordur. It is practiced both as a sport, and in battle.

History

Glima was developed well before the dawn of the Imperial Age, being practiced by The Nordur warriors of old.

Execution

In a sporting context, a Glima contest is between two combatants. The contest is intiated with both parties gripping each other by the forearm before taking five paces back. The combatant who is able to take his or her opponent to the ground and remain standing wins. If a full takedown is unable to be achieved, the first combatant that is brought to a knee three times is defeated.

Components and tools

During Glima contests, the combatants are clad in simple tunics belted at the waist and trousers. Combatants may grip any part of the opponents clothing, including their belts.
