Névrisea

The Coalition of Human Kingdoms

"Only purity elevates us, and only the Radiance guides our steps."
— Excerpt from the Creed of the Pure Radiance
Névrisea is a bastion of faith and military power, uniting the human kingdoms of Andoris under a single banner in a quest for ideological purity and terrestrial domination. This theocratic coalition, forged in the flames of past conflicts, has become an undeniable force, driven by the Order of the Pure Radiance, whose doctrines shape every aspect of social, political, and spiritual life.

The Foundation of Névrisea

After the Insurrection, an alliance of the Oppressed Peoples, which almost destroyed human civilization, the different human kingdoms, weakened and divided, decided to unite under a common banner. The Order of the Pure Radiance, an influential religious faction advocating human purity and moral superiority, became the ideological glue of this coalition. The kingdoms then adopted the name Névrisea, a name taken from an ancient dialect meaning “saving light”. The Order, taking advantage of the fragility of the monarchs, established itself as a spiritual and political authority, consolidating its power through internal crusades and the systematic elimination of dissidents.

Geography

Névrisea spans several distinct kingdoms, each with its own identity while remaining under the theocratic authority.

Solara : The Heart of the Radiance

The spiritual and political capital of Névrisea, Solara is a fortified city surrounded by fertile platra. Dominated by the Cathedral of Pure Radiance, the city is a pilgrimage center where thousands of faithful come each year. Its walls, covered in sacred inscriptions, symbolize the defense of purity against the darkness.

Rhemar : The Shield of the North

Rhemar is a mountainous kingdom, known for its impregnable fortresses and iron mines. The knights of Rhemar, renowned for their discipline and loyalty to the Order, play a key role in military campaigns. Rhemar is ruled by the House of Valiance, one of the oldest noble warrior lines.

Fenmor : The Bastion of the Borders

Located at the southern border of Névrisea, Fenmor is a fertile land where tensions with non-human peoples run highest. The Templars of Fenmor patrol tirelessly, hunting down "heretics" and magic users.

Economic System

The economy of Névrisea is highly centralized and controlled by the Order of the Pure Radiance. It is based on principles of purity, valuing human labor and excluding any form of trade involving non-human races or magical artifacts.

Currency : The Florin

The Florin is the official currency of Névrisea and symbolizes the aristocracy as well as the values of the Order. Each coin reflects the importance of the social hierarchy and the purity espoused by the Creed of the Pure Radiance.

Economic Structure

Internal Trade

Trade is primarily local, with each kingdom contributing its specialties. For example :
  • Solara produces luxurious textiles and religious works.
  • Rhemar exports metals and forged weapons.
  • Fenmor provides agricultural resources and livestock.
Markets are overseen by religious stewards, ensuring that trade practices adhere to the Order’s doctrines.

Taxation

A tax on commercial transactions is levied to fund the Templars and maintain religious infrastructures. Noble houses also pay an annual tribute to the Order, calculated based on the size of their estates and population.

Craftsmanship and Industry

The artisans of Névrisea are known for their discipline and technical expertise, especially in the creation of blessed weapons. Rhemar’s blacksmiths produce military-grade equipment, while artists from Solara create liturgical objects that strengthen the faith of the faithful.

Ideology and Beliefs

The ideology of Névrisea is based on the worship of Pure Radiance, a divine force seen as the source of all light and truth. The doctrines of the Order emphasize human superiority and the necessity of purging the world of all magical influence.

The Creed of Pure Radiance

The Creed is summed up in three principles :
  • Purity : Reject all forms of corruption, whether magical or moral.
  • Unity : Maintain allegiance to the Order and the faith.
  • Devotion : Sacrifice oneself for the sacred cause if necessary.

Magic : An Abomination

In Névrisea, magic is viewed as a corrupting force, a poisoned gift from the elemental gods. Anyone practicing magic is considered a heretic and relentlessly hunted by the Templars.

Political and Military Structure

The Radiant Council

This council brings together the highest dignitaries of the Order and the rulers of the human kingdoms. The council makes major decisions, determines domestic policies, military campaigns, and crusades. The Supreme Archon, elected for life from among the most influential members, is its unquestioned leader.

Armed Forces

  • The Templars of Radiance : Sacred soldiers trained to combat magic.
  • The Névrisean Infantry : A massive force composed of peasants and professional soldiers.
  • Purification Machines : Heavy weapons imbued with sanctified prayers, capable of neutralizing magical entities.

Foreign Relations

Hostility Towards Kaldura

Névrisea and Kaldura have been in a constant state of war ever since Kaldura rebelled against royal authority and sought to break free from the grip of the Order of Pure Radiance. Tensions are heightened by repeated skirmishes at their borders. Kaldura is seen as a rebellious threat to the stability of the nation.

Distrust of Ellanoris and Ochokito

The elves of Ellanoris and the Thérians of Ochokito are viewed as breeding grounds for corruption. Névrisea considers these realms as potential enemies, and regular skirmishes occur at their borders. The people of Ochokito are seen as abominations, while the extreme religiosity of Névrisea views the elves as dangerous heretics.

Culture and Society

Life in Névrisea is marked by strict discipline and total obedience to the doctrines of the Order. Religious celebrations punctuate daily life, and each individual has a role to play in preserving purity.

Social Roles

  • The Nobility : Governs territories under the supervision of the Order.
  • The Clergy : Oversees religious education and maintains moral order.
  • The People : Working the land and serving in the military, they are the backbone of Névrisean society.
