The Caretaker

The Caretaker is The External responsible for the wellbeing of Mortal Races.
The Caretaker's role is wide and vague. What does the wellbeing of mortal races exactly mean? What's good for a Dragon may not be the same as what's good for the village of Goblins under their mountain. Both are however mortal races that fall under The Caretaker's purview.
This contradiction is the key to The Caretaker's task, there is no universal wellbeing for all mortal races, and so her role revolves around the idea that all races have the potential to prosper, it is the wellbeing of mortals as a concept that is important, rather than perhaps that of the individual.
The Caretaker is forever roaming Orchellia in order to try and ensure that nothing is brewing that could cause a destruction of mortals, nothing is being planned or schemed that may result in the ruin of the world, nudging other mortals onto the right path to uncover the schemes and resolve them, perhaps alerting another of the Externals if additional help is required.
The Caretaker often takes the form of an older human woman, an unassuming figure that can slip into most places, a simple traveller, not drawing attention or fame. The Caretaker also has many aliases noted, as she often needs a disguise or ruse to find these anti-mortal schemes, these also are often unseen and unnoticed figures, guards, prisoners, servants etc.
The Caretaker is a figure many claim to have met, someone who pushed them into the right direction to flourish in life and then disappeared. But these claims are often spurious, with little to no evidence behind them. How would one know if the figure they owe their success was The Caretaker or simply a kind stranger, how would one know if the cultist guard they killed was the same person who told their adventuring party about the scheme in the first place. Regardless of if they have or have not met them, many still send out a small prayer to The Caretaker, hoping their work will continue to flourish.
