Emperor's Aide
An Emperor's Aide is one of the highest ranking roles in the government of The Dawn Empire.
A position first created by Avethe II in order to give his brother Viadu I an official position at court. It was in this capacity as Aide that he secured a peace deal with Malran.
Once Viadu became Emperor he expanded the role and hired seven of his most trusted advisors to the new position, one for each duchy under the Empire's control. It has been customary since to add a new aide for every new territory ceased by the Empire.
The Emperor's Aides act as advisors and diplomats for the current ruler of the Empire, when they're dispatched it is to be assumed by all that they speak the Emperor's words and hold his power.
The position of Aide is a lifetime commitment. As one of the Emperor's closest advisors it is expected you remain as such until your death or you're unable to perform your duties. Aides transfer between rulers, a single aide can serve multiple generations of rulers if they are blessed with a long life. Due to this there is some stigma against selecting aides of long lived races as they could influence generations and generations of Emperors.
