Avethe Juliant III
Avethe Juliant III is better remembered as Avethe the Mad and the Emperor who started the dark age of the Dawn Empire.
Avethe had a privileged childhood as any grandson of the Emperor would. He was afforded the finest education, clothes, horses, and anything else the young boy could ask for. None of this ever seemed to satiate Avethe however, he always wanted more and more. The first signs of Avethe's madness came at the death of his father, the eldest son of Milaines the Great. When Milaines revealed that his heir would be his second born child, and not his grandson, the boy lashed out, attacking the Emperor and his Uncle, screaming that they had stolen his birth right. This outburst from the young Prince was quickly swept aside. Those at court felt that, while extreme, an outburst from a boy of only 11 was to be expected, especially one so pampered as Avethe.
Life went on for the young prince, soon marrying and having his own child as was expected of him. Avethe always letting people know that he would have his time on the throne despite any official heirs being named. Eventually Cigrina Juliant II came to the throne and since she had no children of her own declared Avethe her heir.
It is said that for the entirety of Cigrina's rule Avethe was planning her funeral. In 423PS he got his wish and became Emperor. Already at this point were there many rumours around court of Avethe and his madness, his abuse of his wife and son, his lack of sleep, his ravings in the night throughout the city. When Avethe took the throne he swiftly executed all those who continued these slanderous statements.
Throughout his reign Avethe was hostile and lazy. He would flip between denying trade, aggravating borders, and harrassing nobles, to avoiding court and going missing for days. Nobody knows what Avethe would do during his absences, some at court claimed he was kept away due to his health, that he was comatose or having heavy seizures for the mystery periods, others claimed he would run into the royal forests and scream into the night,
Regardless of what Avethe did during his absences, they became more common and his presence got worse with age and power. Avethe near ruined the realm during his reign and it is only due to his frequent absences could his advisors and members of court continue to keep he empire afloat.
Avethe died relatively young at 66 years old. Some dark theories suggest that Avethe was poisoned by his wife, or that his medicine was swapped out for a placebo by his Aides. The official statement was that he fell ill and it was too late for treatment. Nobody investigated his death, everybody was simply happy the throne was no longer in the hands of a maniac.
