Calderan

Calderan is the ruins of an abandoned city located in one of the most desolate areas of the [Avik Dessert], far from any other signs of life. It was forgotten until a team of explorers stumbled upon it by accident. The team was led by [Edwin] and had originally set out to research the animals in the area. The buildings in the city were completely made from stone.   When the city was rediscovered, the first thing that jumped out to the team of explorers was how easy it had been to spot, but also how little sand there was. The next thing that stood out to them was how devastated everything was. The houses had cracks and the stone had crumbled in many places. Buildings had collapsed in on themselves like they had been hit by a massive force.       The explorers first assumed that the city couldn't have been deserted for long, as it was still visible and not buried in the sand dunes of the desert. Sand still covered the streets and the houses and it had pilled up in certain areas, but it was a minuscule amount compared to what had been seen earlier

A peculiar material choice

Through their search through the city, they concluded that it was most likely an old Vinima settlement, though they were very hesitant to state it as such. This was because the vinima usually build their structures from Jewel palm wood or out of mud that was mixed with sand. Yet here was an entire city built entirely in stone.

Older than expected

When the structures and the items left behind in the ruined city were inspected, it was discovered that their original presumption might have been wrong.   The objects they uncovered were of much older origin than expected. Some of the items that had held up the best against the test of time were jewellery, sturdy furniture, clay pots and metal item. All of them were made with more old-fashioned techniques and in a style which hadn't been popular for at least a few centuries.

An interesting find

While all of these shocking discoveries were most interesting to the whole team, Edvin was a bit more focused on something completely different. In the middle of the settlement, was a giant statue, the [NAME OF STATUE]. What caught Edvin's eye most was that the statue look a lot like a species of a sea-dwelling creature called [Saeva], which Edvin was sure hadn't been discovered more than a few decades ago. It puzzled him how this city had a statue of one when it seemingly had been abandoned centuries before the inhabitants could have known about the saeva's existence.
