Farmington Assassins Guild

Despite the name, this is an organization that existed throughout the north. Based in Farmingotn, but active elsewhere. Assassins were banned in Waynesburg, Dassal, Hillsburg and a number of other places. The thieves guilds in those places worked to suppress them - which left room for Farmington's guild to infiltrate and soon, to control most of the truly underground behavior even in those cities.   The guild itself, though, is based in Farmington, where it operates almost openly. Farmington has a number of death cults operating, which are associated with the guild - and even the church offers a fair amount of protection to it. They ran about a quarter of the crime in in the city - were, in fact, one of the dominant forces there. They maintained connections in Waynesburg, Regelsburg and elsewhere - they were instrumental in George Blightopn's overthrow of Frederic III, and became extremely powerful in Waynesburg in the aftermath. They were, however, mostly obliterated by the troubles in Waynesburg.    They retained their power in Farmington, though.

Culture

They are at once a fairly conventional criminal organization, though more ruthless than most. But they are also almost religious fanatics, with a fanatical devotion to murder and violence.

History

They have existed in Farmington for a long time. They have held great power there for hundreds of years,a nd operated almost openly through the 1400s and on. They took advantage of attempts to crush assassin's organizations in other cities to infiltrate, and have become a very powerful international organization.    During the Regelsburg wars, they were involved int he murder of Frederic of Regelsburg, and then attempted to seize power in Waynesburg. The leader there was Xavion, a free ranging villain, who had been active in spreading the guild's influence beyond Farmington. He stayed out of sight, a master of disguise, able to blend into any situation. In his life, he sometimes seemed to lose track of who ehe was supposed to be - some think that happened in Waynesburg, That he began to see himself as being more like George Blighton - able to take real power in Waynesburg, rather than simply operate for the guild. He made an alliance with Githyanki, setting up networks of slave trading out of Waynesburg and Regelsburg, in exchange for their help in overthrowing Frederick, and then taking power in Waynesburg. This was very successful, though almost completely secret - until it was destroyed, and Xavion killed.
