Among the numerous things that make the ryclin species unique, is their trait of being able to ingest most materials. Their bodies process energy at a taxing rate, and they often eat entire beings of large size or quantity to support it on a daily standard. Their ability to ingest more nutrient-hollow materials like plastic or metals is not considered an adequate substitute, but functionable. However the ryclin have found that not everything they can swallow processes the same way, be it objects or critters. The following list will detail prey (or the occasional odd material) that has an odd effect on a ryclin predator, or similar exceptions of a sort. This list does
not account for social based consequences, such as illegal food, nor artificial methods of trouble such as tools carried inside by the prey. It only seeks to name stuff that would process more unusually in their digestive track.
This list will be actively updated as adventures, new discoveries, and new creatures are observed.

With Side-effects
Mysiloid: The
Mysiloid race are a fungal people included as OA residents. They are naturally toxic to most when they are threatened in a certain physical way. Serious pain or fatal incidents cause their bodies to start rapidly transforming into air spores that will pollute the area. The ryclin is an exception, and often used to deal with a bad Mysiloid for that reason. Although spores can still kill ryclins if inhaled, devouring it before they can release has an entirely different effect. In mere minutes the acids begin to trigger spores, only enough toxins make it to stunt the nervous systems to produce a sleepy "
high" for the ryclin consumer. Ryclins feel warm, fuzzy, tired, and a small dopamine hit at once. Recreational eating just for highs is considered illegal, but a hungry ryclin is often called to dispose of a dying or hostile mysiloid.
Other Ryclin: Ryclin are evolved to withstand most contact of their own acid, as they work with a chemical mix of it externally that calls for such safety. However long-standing exposure to the stronger internal gut acids can eventually work through the hide, but this still takes time, and is more work intensive for less benefit. Ryclins will often only eat each other as an eccentric or ill-planned way to capture and move another by spitting them out shortly after. In rare cases of intended digestion, the victim will sooner suffocate, and remain in tact as a burden on the other's stomach for a day or two - whereas most of even the largest prey are often disintegrated within 9-12 hours.
Energy Based Lifeforms: Eating these varies by precise lifeform and components, but often with odd properties as the entity itself is a unique property compared to Kyberus biology. Some variations like Zeanites can not be thoroughly contained and ingested at all for risk of inalienable powers + transcendent travel options. However the majority of studied cases
where applicable, energy based forms that can be digested tend to be of low nutritional value, break down fast, and raise the ryclin's body temperature for a short period. Not an advisable source of food, and due to the difficulty with some species, some ryclin assume all energy lifeforms are inedible. Much of this can be applied broadly across other non-solid forms of life.
Alcohol*: Alcoholic beverages are enjoyed only by a small few in ryclin communities, kept small in favor by odd side effects. They tend to only prefer wine and fruit liquors in the major market, while more grain based sorts can actually cause allergic reactions for most (but not all). In broad cases Alcohol can suppress the acid glands, and occasionally give ryclins the polarizing effects of either hunger or stomach cramping, with theories that it disrupts their entire metabolic or acidic system in one way or another. Those more allergic (especially with grain types, like beer or whiskey) tend to endure dry sneezes, headaches, shortness of breath, and cold shivers. For this reason, alcoholic ryclins are next to none, and they have a very limited sense of culture with it. On the upside, they tend to lack the same depressant side-effect most other species obtain from it.
LardShakes*: Nugget's Queen among perhaps a rare few other sources have dared to make a concoction that involves dense amounts of sugar + animal fat in a milkshake concoction that is terrible for most lifeform's health, and hypermetabolizing it may actually make it as bad or worse for ryclin. While ryclin don't put on weight easily, items like lardshakes are dense and thin enough that ingestion is rapid, and their bodies may quickly change under large volumes. It takes even less if their body already has prey and other energy and fats to process, and a wealthy quantity is treated like a 'side' drink to the meal. Combined with the addictive property of Lardshakes in particular, some lifelong thin ryclins might overindulge to find aches, strains, and pains as their body feels somewhat ill to suddenly undergo the fatty growth spurts.
Dangerous
Selmzi Parasite: Native to Kyberus and even invasive elsewhere, the Selmzi is a slug-like parasite that is hard to see and has adapted to be capable of preying on ryclin from within. Once a ryclin swims in infested water, or eats a prey with one inside, the parasite will begin to feed off the ryclin's internal fluids and is immune to its natural digestive systems. Over time the parasite will cause the ryclin to hunger, feed on its nutrients or prey, and eventually grows until it can consume the ryclin itself from inside-out. A ryclin cannot technically digest a Selmzi in any capacity, given their protective gel-like membrane.
Xylythian*: Raw xylythian, or battery grade materials, are fatally allergic in quantities larger than a proportional ryclin's finger. Often battery source converted formats may outright combust shortly after consuming, whereas pure crystal will not break down in good health once digestion begins to absorb its toxic properties. In very small doses, the ryclin's natural systems can filter out small counts, and for this reason they can still ingest most immune wildlife with xylythian cellular composition. Crystal poisoning can be observed with rapid fever, cramps, and heart failure, sometimes with hallucinations prior to death.
