Rylcin Livestock

Edonian rylcin have made it about as broadly across the omniverse as their tikerin comrades, if for mostly a whole different reason. Tikerins treated them akin to a sapient livestock from a small age, often finding their pelts very usable and presentable even onto other races. In other cases, they're even roasted as a tough but savory meat, or easier after deep-frying. However from their sentient nature, they've been cataloged and handled somewhat differently over time, with size even factoring them in to be a bit distinct from the likes of harvesting satyr or boarian meat, or the minority practice of raising a vyllk from birth to be food. In many locations they are even legally allowed to live somewhat free, hopping around, getting involved in the television or bunny-toddler toys, etc. Many are outright bought to even be housed like pets. Others are more draconian in their holding, being trapped in small cells with specific furred companions for selective breeding and better pelt outcomes. Pelt shipping itself can differ, from tailors and talented on-site prep, to shipping large live containers full of rylcin for the client to adjust it to their own whim in how they're carved into fashion.   On the dark side, there have been contentious laws and sanctions from disagreeing elements. Rylcin have at times rebelled in what they believe to be strong 'ryclin wars', but really they end up being small riot conflicts of a dozen or two that are quelled in two hours tops. However damage can still be done, with started fires, small projectiles, broken equipment, and wounded feet. It tends to still damage local economies, and is disagreed with to sometimes a mixed effect with some regions punishing the ryclins harder, while other territories have gradually moved away from harming rylcin. Some welfare groups can also potentially get involved, occasionally buying them off the market or interfering with clients, to store and shelter the ryclin for themselves in a safer space

History

It is potentially traced back to early tribal Edonian era, where history and some surviving ancient oral stories suggest rylcins were once seen as a pest that would steal from small food stores of tribes. Before one of the hardest winters, a mythical epiphany came from the wind spirits that instructed one chief to lay traps and skin the little thieves for warmer rewards. Tribes then came together in trades where 'mysterious furs' became highly popular for their plush texture and warmth, and when it turned out to surprisingly come from sewing hides of rylcin together, it caught on across many other tribes and moved into the industrial age. The technique actually improved with time, as early inconsistent furs were dyed to match, while this was later considered a tactic that cheapened the fur while selective breeding was available.
