Rhybol
Distant relatives to the ryclin, rhybols are a species of feral small bipedal herbivores. They can grow large in some regions, reaching nearly the size of a human, or the shorter ryclin, while other habitats have benefitted smaller rabbit-like sizes. Essentially there are three variants between a Ziirfield, jungle, and mountain type. The jungle variant used to be very sparse, and thought endangered in the time of the primitive ryclins due to being consumed, but have since had their numbers climb as the ryclin obtained intelligence and a will to study. There's some occasional cultural sympathy with their special cousins, though some ryclins still freely hunt and consume rhybols.
Rhybols differ in a lot of basic needs, essentially being more of an herbivore type that seeks forest-level plants and foliage for their diet. They share a love of fruits with their ryclin cousins, but prefer leafy vegetation. They share the same gumline and even some acidic saliva, but have its function a bit different. They lack a projectile gland, and instead work to use it as a way to break and "gum" off foliage. Likewise their hide is less heat resistant, as they can actually instead grow more fibrous material to camouflage into their environment between small hairs and pigment changes, but are at a disadvantage with heat and acidic protection. Fellow rhybols can fight with their own acidic 'gumming', and they tend to bite and fight over mates. Claws are often more used against predators.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Rhybos exhibit many basic features in common with the ryclin. They have three toes, three fingers akin to the primitive sort, strong hind legs, a balanced tail, and a snouted face. Their ears are marginally longer in most cases, and their size varies greatly. Akin to the ancient ryclins, they have no natural teeth as is custom for the more natural of the Ryliem family. Instead they rely on high acidic contents within their gumlines and saliva to help burn and tear soft materials. Unlike ryclin, their skin is softer, and they may sometimes be seen with fibers growing along their spines, and the skin itself subtly changes some color based on their diet and environment. Dark blue seems to be their "natural" color, and depending on the plants and fruit of their diet, they often turn to shades of green, olive, or paler.
The jungle variant is the biggest of their kind, coming up to roughly 1.3 meters average. They can afford the size with a desire to leap high, but also lots of supporting food on their level to grow on. Their bones are sturdier, and they often mature with a flexible crest of hair along the head that can lift up in signals or to scare away predators.
The ziirfield type is the smallest, and often paler or even white-blue with their diet in the grass of its fields. They hide easily, and have round ears that lay back when at ease, and directionally aim and listen when sensing a threat. They tend to be more often social with themselves, and live in large polygamous families.
The mountain variant looks much like the jungle type, but is often shorter with less of a crest, and darker to its average pigment. They sometimes give louder yelps and noises, and can "croak" for long distances to communicate with a mate.
Additional Information
Domestication
Very rarely are they truly domesticated, but some specialists have kept them well-behaved in large pins, as long as they can support a habitat-like atmosphere for them to be happy. Amateurs often find their pins destroyed of natural life, as the rhybols require a lot of vegetation and upkeep.
