Kagir Bark (kay-gur)
Kagir bark is bark peeled from a kagir tree, native to Tarma. Simply to form, it appears brownish-red on the outside, with a redder glow on the cut inner pieces. When ground, it appears more dull brown with a faint pinkish 'glow' to it. In burning it, it smells a bit like cherry candy, but is said to have a smoked flavor more akin to charred wood that gradually gets more forgiving as its bewitching side-effects kick in.
It is however, infamous to possess, because as a burning substance or ground powder, it can be inhaled to produce infamous effects. Some species may feel a condition of either painful migraines and sensory convulsions or outright numbing (losing smell/taste/hazed vision), but many begin to even feel great pleasure to a point of being spontaneously amorous when around others. Its considered especially dangerous to females for this reason, often resulting in unintended pregnancies, and sometimes 'not enough' loss of memory. In confined use to species less ill-effected, it can be a drug helpful for anti-depression, but in most cases its recommended to go unused, and highly illegal in some areas including its homeworld among tigirens. It has been used in more nefarious instances to force people to cheat on each other, or force a relationship with an unrequited lover, and even in other instances, mixed with other drugs to provide more neurotoxic effects. Its even been embedded within tarmic slang to a negative connotation, with Kagir-couples being used to describe suspiciously loyal relations, or Kagir-headed used to sometimes describe someone not thinking well, or too optimistic.
