Holosphere Sport

Holosphere is a sport played between opponents divided across an arena-court. There exists various forms and slight rule adjustments for the sport, but the most popular is Ryclin Dual League where one vs another ryclin contest in a simpler match.

Basics & Scoring

Each player keeps to their field. The equipment involves a tracksuit type attire with a digital harness that helps read their location in comparison to the sphere projectile. Each player gets a Sphere Shooter (or rack), which is a wide two-prong metal stick that "absorbs" the game's sphere and charges it to be lobbed back. In a rough sense, much of the concept mirrors tennis. The sphere is projected to be fired back and forth until someone misses the pass.   Scoring is broken up by where the sphere ends in relation to the person that was supposed to catch it. In this way, there is a risk and reward to passing it closer to the player rather than making an easy shot... but there's also a risk in over-reaching to pursue the sphere. Essentially it works as follows:
1 Point = A simple miss, often going to a hard opposite angle of the opponent.
2 Points = The Sphere got very close, nearly grazing them.
4 points = If the pass directly hits the other without them catching it for a pass-back.
X2 = If the ball is passed long enough, it glows red-orange and is worth double of its scoring point.

The first one to 25 points, or have the highest score by 30 minutes of play, is the victor. After the judge & announcer's call for a "half-game riot", there is often audience participation that changes up the arena or pace of the match in what is usually the second half of the game.
