Fhyrg

Fhyrg [feh-urg] is a race of confusing origin, that may or may not be endangered. Believed to have left and mutated from a gas-based planet, they are an air based sentient life that can survive free-space and get entangled into technology, or potentially learn through DNA of another being. They proceed to show intelligence, or even take formation by chemical reactants, or stolen machine or softer lifeform materials. They can then use this form to operate semi-normally, often blending in fast with their surroundings on learned information. Most tend to respond with an idea that they aren't even sure much of their own kind exist, and often instead adopt to interact and continue to engage with the life around them, until a failure or conflict creates difficulties - and even then, its difficult to tell how a gas being dies in such a state.
They are classified by most as an enigma, and possibilities seek to even suggest that because a common name for them exists within their own admission, there's a chance their natural state is a part of some hive mind or shared creed.
