Fareteg (Fahr-ah-teg)
Born on the floral-dense world of Yorad The Fareteg is a race of humanoid ungulates resembling bipedal giraffes. They have long and lanky builds supported with strong muscle, and marginally longer necks than even most races. They were afflicted with a grave disease long ago, mostly starting from the fur and skin. Their fur would darken, and break out, slowly withering as they fell ill to any manner of immune-broken disease. Its thought it triggered a violently vulnerable radioactive response from the sun. However about 7% of the population was turning out immune, forming strange spots that never progressed in the condition. It was quickly found their body had a rare follicle element that helped suppress the issue, and this was quickly replicated into a vitamin (and later, DNA injection) they could give to all the rest. This not only saved the species, but put them on a path of science and ambition over traditions and large families. They are now somewhat of a low-key augmented cyborg race at birth, and often modify and enhance themselves across life as they wish.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Long legs, strong calves and hooves, and a similar trait in the neck and shoulder. They have an elongated and slender snout, with ears, a mane, and little dull horn-like stalks. Their body is heavily spotted in a blocky and blotchy set of patterns across. One unusually distinct feature is their long leaf-grabbing tongue, which they now use at times like its own odd appendage, able to carry small things like a stylus or fork. With their more modern explorative and modifying history, there may be heavy cybernetics or augmented appendages seen on some individuals. Some change and shift key components of their body willingly, while others have easy recovery option from work place injury or incidents.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Initially in history, they were very picky and special focused eaters that only ate leaves from the thick forests of Yorad. However as came the crisis and bio-engineering of their species, they knew they'd fit in and also benefit with extra nutrients if they developed stomach systems with artificial enzymes for most material. At present, virtually all fareteg are born with modifications that allow their body to process meat, grains, fibers, nuts, fruit, alcohol, some poisons and even small plastics. Some have a more traditionalist diet by choice, but others go out of their way to find unusual things or make a hobby out of finding strange and exotic things to eat. Its not unheard of to find one gorging on recreate bars, or even making up fad diets for themselves to follow. Despite their quest for learning and long lives, they have become a large victim of hypnotically consuming copious amounts of Nugget's Queen and often even directly invest in it to be brought along wherever they travel and go. As such fareteg habits and physique comes in a diversity close to their pallets. Long, lanky, and delicate eaters, may be close to busy fast food lines and fatter kin.

Average Intelligence
Immense intellect, while poor empathy. Their key specialties are cybernetic biology, chemical effects, astrology probing, engineering, and medical assistance. They tend to develop very low and minimal weapon based directives, but may have a steep and invested reliance on deterrents that can still be extremely deadly.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Quite diverse and mixed. Many take pride in trying to have both a practical and 'original' name, while omitting whether it has or hasn't been used by another species. In this way they often sort of appropriate other culture norms, and may have names from a lionkin-tikerin basis, to something more exotic or odd like naraji, caul'qa (vyllk), or even steal from other race's historic names like Tesla or Zeshielda.
Courtship Ideals
There is little in the way beyond interest. Most fareteg simply meet and hook up in after-work parties, often with similar team members. They may flirt, discuss past jobs, verbally compete a little, and copulate. As the two meet again they may discuss how the infant is doing, but don't actually plan to lift a family, and one will usually depart at some point. The mother will try to steer her child into either a community or job that will help it succeed, meanwhile they are repeating the cycle to couple again.
Common Etiquette Rules
Fareteg don't believe in ideals and values without a wholly rational or achievement-driven logic to back it up. As such they have few, if next to no strange rules of pure etiquette for the sake of avoiding taboos, and may in fact clash with another society's. Some sectors and groups have different opinions on xeno-engagement, and believe in learning and adapting some set of tactics to not draw bad attention, while others feel like they will simply 'enlighten' a race to explain why they disobey them. Otherwise they simply do not have a sense of traditionalist values, and this extends even down to the role of parents given they believe the work unit will do more to steer a child in the right direction.
